My '98 6.5 5-speed has in the last few days become almost impossible to get into gear at a stop and hard to shift while moving. Im guessing that the hydraulic clutch is is not moving far enough to enable full clutch release. There are no visible leaks and the level of the master cylinder has not changed in a few days. My most educated guess would be that the master cylinder is going bad. Is there a slave cylinder or does this truck have a hydraulic throwout bearing? All I can see is the hydraulic line going into the bellhousing where there would normally be a clutch fork. Are these master cylinders known for failing? The fluid does look really nasty. If you changed the master how in the world would you bleed it? Any feedback appreciated.

my 96 blew the fitting at the bell housing last fall. Had it replaced at the shop, not wanting to open it up myself. I don't know details, but replacement part was a single unit -master ,line and slave and must have been easy(fairly cheap)
