: Any Potential Parasitic Loss??

For the past few weeks my truck has had what seemed like a parasitic battery loss. The longer it would sit before starting, the worse it would be. After sitting 12+ hours the truck would barely crank over/start & the volt meter would be around 11/12 volts until it ran for a while.

I went to Sears yesterday and they tested & deemed both batteries as bad, and the alternator as fine. While I'm there I have them install 2 of the new P4 AGM Batteries - 880 cca each. Now the truck start 10x better , but after sitting overnight I start today & it starts fine but still has the issue with the volt gauge being way low (11v) and won't really come up until I raise above idle for a few minutes, or actually drive around..

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and anyone have a idea what could possibly cause a parasitic loss while the truck sits?? Also, I have no aftermarket electrical accesories installed, other than HID's.

Thanks in advance.

Mines the same and I got 2 of the most Baddass Batteries that would fit in the Truck. My Voltage reads Low until I go about 2 Miles down the Road, then it slowly comes up and Levels Off.

I'm sure you're fine.

Are you sure you guys aren't seeing the effects of the start up and glowplugs drawing a bunch when you first start up?It takes a bit for the amps to come back up.If it's cold outside that really takes a lot more amperage too...

Oh, I'm sure that's what it is, in my case. I'm just letting the OP know it's ok for a few Minutes or so after Startup that the Voltage Gauge isn't gonna be in the "Sweet Spot".

My truck may have been always been doing this, even before the Delco batteries went out. I just had never noticed it. That is why I have the concern after buying the best new batteries possible - Just wanted to make sure there was not some other cause which would damage the new batts over time..

There is a grid heater as well

Could anyone out there with a stock LBZ do me a favor & see if there volt meter reads low (11/12v) for the first few minutes after starting? Before raising the revs, or driving around.

Grid heater has a HUGE power draw, and will always make the voltmeter dip. Longer in colder weather, shorter in hot or with hot engine.

My Dodge would dim the headlights when the heater grid kicked on.

I asked the same question on a new thread today. And yes, and I want to know if anyone knows why.
