Doc,
I am old enough to remember watching Hee-Haw with my grandmother when I was a kid. I had to think about that one at first. ):h

Ok..Let me start. I have only seen the white smoke one time so far, but its difficult to always see my pipe because sometimes I go to work while its still dark. The time I did see it, the outside temp was about 65-70 degrees guessing.(i live in az so it couldnt be have been much colder) I happen to be standing at the rear of the truck because the old lady was going to town. First came a pretty decent amount of white smoke followed by the same amount of black. It was gone and cleared up just as fast as it came.

In the 2 years I've owned my truck I have never pulled a glow plug. The first winter I had my truck, my GP controller was bad and when I replaced it I checked the GP's with a test light and all 8 were good. Havent even thought about them since then, because even in the summer w/the bad controller my truck would start. SOOOO maybe its time to check them again. may have a bad 1 or 2 . Whats the life expectency of the GP's? Any recommendations of your favorite kind? brand?
Or is it a possible injector problem?

Get a DVOM and check the glows and replace them as required. They should read .8-1.4 ohms any higher ohms and they're not getting hot enough. I check between the lead (+) and the (-) plug. It's a good habit to be in as I've found one or two will go to higher ohm readings every 6 months or so.

A60G is latest GM IIRC, or JK quick heats (what I have), I think Bill Heath sells a set of long cycle glows as well, what you are after is a set of 11G and later vintage that can take extended glow time without swelling. Glows are normally 6V heaters that when hit with 12V get very hot warming the chambers; some do it better than others. I think in a test 60G and Kennedy quick heats went 15 minutes without swelling, maybe 11G also, been a while since looking at the text where I read it. Memory starting to fade, me knowing significance of BR-549 first hand should give you an indication of how age can affect memory and on that count know what I'm talking about:D

Well, I thought about the long glow or whatever SS diesel supply had and then I got to thinkin....I live in Az and maybe I dont need a long cycle plug. So, I think I may just go with a AC delco or something. I just didnt know what part# my truck requires. Are the Ac Delcos self regulating or whatever because I dont want them swelling and breaking off, I had enough of that in my 6.2 days. I will check my current GP's tomarrow.

So, do I want the 60's or 11's? I'm still unclear. Maybe its because I dont know the difference between them.

ssdieselsupplys work great and are cheaper than acdelcos and they have the 2 year warranty

[QUOTE=bowtie]Goodluck on finding the 11G's they have been replaced.QUOTE]

Last time I bought plugs they only offered the 60's as a replacement for 11's.

The 60's always throw a cloud of white smoke but it's usually a small one that is gone in a second.
