I have searched and searched on all of this. What is the difference between a programmer and a box? We have been told by 2 mechanics now not to get a programmer because you should not mess with the computer at all and it is harder on the engine. They both said the box is the way to go. It seems like everyone loves the Predator, which we would like to get. We like the Edge except for it doesn't perform good in cold weather, so this will not work for us. I guess it is more seaching on here. I guess we will check out the Van Aaaken.
Hope someone can explain the difference of the two and if one is harder on the engine or not.

PS Our dealer has no problem with putting on the Mrbp exhaust for my wife and guages or a box. They said at least they know what has been done to it.

Usually a programmer is a device that downloads a towing or performance program into your factory computer through the diagnostic connection under the dash, like the Preadator and others do. It can be removed and put back to stock if you need a dealer visit.

A box is usually a stand alone mini computer that you plug in line with the factory wire connections under the hood, it intercepts the factory computer signals and upgrades them to a tow or perfprmance program and then sends it out to the engine, like a Edge or Van Akken does. It can quickly be removed and returned to stock if you need to visit the dealer for warranty work.

They both work well when they work right, a programmer may also give you the option of changing the speed limiter, and reading codes that the engine may set.

I've had a Edge HJ and had no problems with it in the winter or summer.

And they both work the same as far as being "hard" on the engine.
