I just bought a 2006 gmc supercab long bed
With all options includeing lether and bose radio
with 60000 miles for $21000 Good deal?

One Problem When in 4x4 on ice vehicle would
pull to the sides eraticaly.

when on wet surface in 4x4 no problems.

I was told by a mechanic that it was the front 4x4
engagement motor. and this is a comon problem on
these front ends.
The part was only 125$
It took 5 minutes to replace it so I replaced it.

Interetingly I called 3 diferent dealerships and they all
said they had sold out on them but had them on order
when I picked up the part the parts counter also said it
was a comon problem,

So that backed up the mechanics statement that it is a
comon problem. but snow is gone now so no way to test it.

Has anyone else had this problem???

I was about to do a search but found this. I have what seems to be the same problem as you. On snow packed roads mine does the exact same thing, it pulls to the sides and is like trying to steer a shopping cart around ! I have not had a chance to get it in to the dealer yet but if it is a easy fix I might try the motor first.

you guys by chance dont have your torsion bars turned way up do you. this will cause the truck to pull to one side when in 4x4.

Its easy to replace the part 5 minutes tops.

search e-bay for part and look at the picture
then look under front of truck.

But I have not drove the truck on compact snow and ice
yet so I cant verify the fix yet.

Also if your idler/pitman arm are worn it'll emphasize it in 4x4. Mine would drive straight in two wheel but in four wheel my steering wheel was all over the place.

I'm not seeing why the front actuator would cause it to pull, if the actuator was not working the front is not locked in at all. power would be lost in the spider gears.

Replacing the motor did not help.

I drove it this weekend and it still doesnt work

I took it to a dealership and they said thay cant find anything wrong but charged me 100$.

I am taking it to a diferent dealership today.

Very common for theses trucks. Land Crusher, when was the last time you had the front end aligned, they will tell you if your parts are worn.
