I just finished installing Bilstein shocks in my 2500 Chevy Duramax. I have not drove it yet as it was late when I finished working on it. I got them from Kennedy Diesel. The rear shocks were worn out but the front didn't seem too bad. I am going to drive it tomorrow to get the Sunday paper, hope it will ride better. I pull a 33-5V Arctic Fox with this truck. It has a pin weight of 1800 lbs. according to Northwood who made the trailer.

I did this last weekend...AWESOME improvement. truck rides better, has more control, and takes bumps like it should.

I just did mine yesterday to.. Along w/rotation and LOF....Front ones collapsed pretty easy, and then were very slow to rebound....I collapsed the driver front and it didnt fully rebound for over a min....
Rears compressed easily as well, but rebounded quicker than fronts...35,500 miles on stockers... Drove home from the shop rd jts were alot smoother....
Was a bit concern after reading some previous posts on install, but it was a breezy... Never seized and clean all nuts & bolts, and rims for the future..
Im pretty happy w/results..., Got mine from JK to... Good deal..

Are these Bilsteins the ones with longer travel? I hear everyone complaining about the lack of travel in the front shocks, but I just looked at mine and I must have an inch and a half of thread from where the nut currently is! Did any of you notice this? This would give a bit more travel IF I decide to crank my bars a couple of turns. I want to wait until I can get to my 5er (its too muddy now):( so I can determine how much to crank 'em if at all. But if I do, it sounds like the change in ride from the cranking will almost make the Bilsteins a must?

I got the shocks that are for stock level trucks, or trucks w/torsion bar adjustments...
Good thing you brought up the front shox thing. The torque wrench we/me didnt go below 30 i think... So i just tighten it down to like a 1" worth of threads...or 18threads showing..

I drove the truck this morning to get the Sunday paper. It seemed to have a better ride, but the way I went to road was fairy smooth. The back shocks on my truck were shot. Tomorrow I am going to take another road and can tell more about them .
