Would this be a good or bad idea? Wheels are pro comp 1069 series. Was thinking that they look so nice when you open the box. If you clear coated them would they stay looking that good?

use a good wheel sealant on them. i use poorboys sealant and my polished aluminums wheels look like new for at least a few months before you have to wash them. once you wash them, they look like you just polished them. the sealant works so good i wish i had bought it years ago.

how long does the sealant last? It would not be a big deal for me to paint them just wondering how it last or the pros and cons some one must have done this before.

I wash the salt off mine every night with hot water because they're bare, too.

I know there are companies that will clear coat them with a factory type finish. There is one in Columbus Ohio. When I checked on having it done, it was about $50/wheel if the wheels were new out of the box.

They couldn't do my wheels, though, because they were old and the older casting process would have made for air holes in the clear coat. Newer wheels would not have this problem, though

Clear coating would protect the wheel a lot better but it wouldn't be as shiny as it would if you just kept the polished surface. I guess you have to decide which is more important to you, better wheel protection with less maintenance or shiny, more maintenance wheels.

I tried zoop on my Alcoa's last year and it didn't make it thru the winter, still had to repolish in the spring.
