: To align or not?

I just replaced one of my wheel bearings and cranked my tortion bars to lift the front to level the truck out. Will my alignment be off now that the bars are cranked? I test drove it today and it drives fine, there is no pulling and the tires look straight. Went to an alignment shop and they said it should be good because it was only lifted 2". Has anyone cranked their bars and then took it in to be aligned to have them say that no adjustment was needed?

i cranked mine and never had an alignment done and my front tires wore out quick.... i would have them put it on the machine to be shure, its only like 60 bucks or so and it could save your tires. jmho though.

Took it in anyways and the toe and camber was out. Now it is aligned.

see, that could have made those tire wear uneven or faster. good decision to go ahead and be on the safe side.

every time you crank/uncrank the torsions it messes with the alignment.

Ride height directly affects caster, camber & toe on anything IFS.

On a properly designed IFS only the camber should change and it shouldn't be enought to require a realignment. In reality GM botched the geometry really bad on these trucks and there is a TON of bump steer. There is a full 2" of bump steer from full droop to full compression. Yep, your worried about 1/32" of toe wearing your tires and the truck is toeing your tires almost a a full 1" of change in the 2-3" that our suspension runs in.

Do a search under my name for bump steer, I actually measured this on our trucks.
