I just had my head gaskets done, and still had a problem were the coolant was over flowing the res.. I took it back and they told me they think its a cracked head. The final result after magnaflux testing my head, some valve un seated in the sleave. A service advisor in the stealership says he worked on the factory line that builds that head and valve. and has never seen that happen before...? so what do i say ? they ordered new sleaves and now im waiting to discuss what im gonna be paying since they just did the gasket 2 weeks prior ! Anyone have this happen, or heard of such a disaster. :( or could tell me what could cause this failure . Thanks

I do not believe that a valve would cause coolant pressure in the res. I believe it would more likely be an injector cup. If a injector cup comes unseated, then cylinder pressure can enter the cooling system.

IF it IS an injector cup, then it is NOT a totally abnormal occurrence, WHEN changing injectors. If any work was done to the heads while they were doing the head gasket job, it is possible that a injector, cup could have come unseated.

Lots of "ifs" and "and's" here, but it is hard to diagnose something over the internet.

All they said was done 2 weeks ago when i had coolant pouring out is the head studs and gaskets for both sides. When i go to pick it up, i will return with more info on this. They did say that all the parts for this repair will be at cost, as well as labour.

Injector cups leaking will cause the problems you describe. It is easy to desturb the cups when removing the injectors.

Sounds like they did not install the sleeves correctly or should have used new sleeves if any of them were damaged when they pulled the head.

I am assuming that they pulled all the sleeves and reinstalled. I cannot imagine that when someone pulls heads that they do not pull the sleeves and reinstall.

Does changing out a head gasket include messing around with injectors? I had my injectors done 70 000 klm ago. And never had this problem untill after the gaskets were needing replacment.

when i spoke to the service manager, he says that they just lifted the head out , did the gaskets, and thats it. They looked at the head for a visual inspection, but seen nothing out of order and put it back in.
