Diesel fuel for internal combustion engines is blended with specific additives to address lubricity, performance, etc. Fuel oil is merely made to burn in a heat exchanger, such as a furnace.

Not that is wouldn't work; it probably would. And certainly has, in days past. But that was when diesel engines, and more importantly, the fuel systems, were ol' skool and not that finicky. Today's high pressure, tight tolerance fuel pumps and injectors to not take kindly to alternate fuels without compensation in the additive arena.

In general, use fuel specifically formulated for the correct application. The Dmax runs best on on/off road diesel fuel. It's likely not worth the risk to try it.

Bio is another topic all together.

I'm trying to understand your question.

I think you're asking about using fuel oil (as in heating oil) vs. running diesel fuel in an LMM.

Both are #2 oils. You'll get a lot of differing opinions on whether they're the same or not, with different additives. That's a great way to start a debate here...

A #2 fuel oil will run a diesel, yes. If your #2 oil is an ULSD #2, shouldn't be a problem. Good or bad, well, that depends. Locally, our heating oil people are the same people who own the majority of the fuel stations, and they will tell you that they pull the oil out of the same storage tanks. The diesel has a ULSD sticker on the pump and no dye. The heating oil has dye when delivered to your oil tank at home. Therefore, I would assume that if I wanted to run a ULSD diesel engine on it, that I could.

Legal-wise, #2 heating oil is untaxed for road use. Do people run it?, yes. Do many farmers run off-road diesel? Yes. Should you? That's up to you.

I have a dodge friend that runs nothing but home heating oil with no added lube. HHO is a version of Kerosene and it will run fine in your engine, just add some lube to it like Stanadyne Lubricity Formula. It is made for it. Now your problem is going to be the DPF. If HHO has more than 15ppm sulfer you will make the DPF work harder and have to regen alot more. It may even clog it and ruin it if the sulfer content is high. I do not know the sulfer content of HHO. This will be your only concern. I run alot of Jet A in my truck which is kind of like K1 kerosene with no problems. I just add lube to it.
