And how much you paid, too. I noticed a new hummer dealer here.

No, I don't think anyone wants to know that there is a block available that will not crack. I can't wait for my engine to just split right up the middle like a display model:lol:

somebody stole my prototype engine block!! It was sitting there out in the garage, under the bench next to the flux capacitor....

If you never start it, it will never crack.

Wow! For nearly $11,000.00, I could have a nice supercharged big block gas engine and a lot of gasoline, or one of several other diesel engines.

Canadian pricing and drop in. Looks pretty good to me.

Before I spend 8g's on a new 6.5 I would go with a Cummins

OK, but for about $9000.00 current USD, I would still look for alternatives. Don't get me wrong, I love my 6.5, but that is way too much money for another one. I am already considering a Duramax or Cummins swap just because I have 135,000 miles on a known "time bomb".

that's a respectable downpayment for a new truck....

For even that 9000.00 figure I'd go back to the dealer ship I visited couple days ago and sign that paperwork I walked away from for that D-Max. Just $1000.00 bucks a month for 48 months. LOL

48,000 US or 9,000 US, not a tough decision in my books if you are looking for a new motor only. Fully loaded D'max is over 60,000 here. Even my 00 @ 20,000 when i bought it plus a new motor is only 30,000 and i would have practically a new truck for 1/2 the cost of a new D'max.

The post was just to let you guys know of the option out there, not just give me abuse about it. I'm not the advertiser, just passing on the info.

If you posted the ad verbatim, it would be the 'Hummer-style' bit that would raise some question.

Who's the vendor - don't mention the name, just spell it.............;)

DSG in Sask is running the ads in whats called AWNA blanket classifieds. I have noticed them advertising very heavy for the last couple of months here. Its pretty much in every paper in Alberta. TDG might pick the ad up in his local papers too in the blanket ads if their going that far with it.

If you could find a wrecked dodge '95-'98 in your area you could do the repower for a few grand.

Yeah, and wonder how long it ran without coolant/oil or on its side.

I spent close to 9000.00 US on my repower and that included selling my 18:1 6.5 and installing it in the buyers rig. 5000.00 was for the cummins alone, then there is the clutch, bell housing, slave cylinder, new input shaft for the nvg 4500, inter cooler, dodge radiator, misc parts, flywheel, and 2 tranny rebuilds in the first 10,000 miles because the stock gm 32 spline output shaft wasn't up to the task of handling the cummins' torque. Add about 150 hours of labor to get this project done:eek: On the bright side, ever seen an 8000 lb Suburban with 35 inch tires and a 6" lift handily spank a Duramax with a 90hp chip):h ):h ):h ):h and now my wife is even talking to me again after that run and she now says that she backed out and let me win:eek:  ):h

All in all, I was money ahead with my 18:1 6.5, it just wasn't in the same league as the cummins or the duramax or powerstroke, but it did run well and pulled hard. I guess I just got scared of the blocks cracking after I found that my spare 599 block from a 94 had pretty little hairline cracks in the #1 main webs.-:t To the best of my knowledge the 18:1 engine that I built had a sound block, but for how long? The 94 block cracked somewhere around 150000 miles of hard use.
