I have been reading up on the swap of the pittman and idler arms. I have called around and the same question comes up on the pittman arm...3 or 4 groove (spline)?

Can anyone help with an answer to this question?

I have a 2002 Chevy 2500HD D/A 4x4. Thanks.

I've searched & even ordered steering boxes that supposedly had the 4 blind with no luck. Every 01 to current HD I've seen has a 3. I even once had a guy that said his was 4, so I got his vin#, ordered a steering box, and it came as a 3!!

Thanks for the replies. Can the pittman arm be pulled without removing the steering gear box?

Three bolts hold the steering box to frame.
Remove two of the bolts, and loosen the third, and you should be able to move enough to loosen nut.
