I wanted a somewhat "factory" appearance
so I went with a color-matched A-pillar
pod with Autometer Z-series guages since
they most closely match the stock dash
guage & needle color. Here's a link;

I purchased both the Autometer guage pod
and the Autometer guages from Summit Racing (http://www.summitracing.com)

The guage pod was black, but I had my friend
Wade (of Wade's Rod & Custom) color match
it with Dupont paint. If you search this
site, I'm sure you'll find the dupont paint
code for a GM Tan interior. If you can't
find it, let me know and I'll look it up
again....

good luck,

Here's what I did with my pyro meter. Installed it in the space where the cup holder used to be installed on the older models, but is now a useless storage slot. Cut the plastic plate using my wife's engraver and mounted it to the compartment with double stick tape (again from my wife's business).

I used Dakota Digital and color matched the A pillar pod. I had difficulty deciding whether to try and match faces and needles with the dash or digital to match trans select, temp control and audio system. Now that the decision is behind me I'm glad I went with the digital as they are read much more quickly by my aged and failing eyes.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Plus, as resident "el cheapo" I was able to pick the Dakota Digitals up for $100 from another member in our For Sale Classified thread.

Looks cool, but they might be easier for the
driver to read with some angle rings...

Buy the plate from Eric and drill and paint it. Cost for the plate was about 8 bucks, IIRC, for the one I bought.

It's hard to see, but they are angled. I painted the white portion of the back of the guage black. I then put the guages in and pulled them toward my seat. So they are angled for the most part.

You'll notice that the boost is on the outside. I rarely look at it, and if I had it to do again, I would just put in a pyro with the newer Autometer mount to the stearing column.

I put in a lot of pyro guages, hardly any boost guages. Although it's kind of fun to watch the boost guage, most customers want just the minimum because of cost.

As for guages in the ceiling console, forget it. I'm never doing that again. Talk about time consuming, frustrating, etc. Edited by: MacGordon

They look great but are they still available? I thought they were discontinued.

They are. I have the same setup and the rectangular ones are no longer made.

Yeah,

I heard they were gonna make 1 more run of them after mine was shipped from it's particular lot.

However if you generate enough interest in a particular product you may make some headway.

Pepperidge

LTrain, I have the Quadzilla monster monitor digital gauge installed in my overhead console. It reads Boost, EGT, and Oil Temp all at the same time. I personally don't like pillar mounts, and thought this looked more "factory"

My pillar pod saved me from gettin a speeding ticket in Alabamba last weekend. The trooper pulled me over for speeding but after seeing the obvious pillar pod as he stood by my open window, he just had to ask about the gauges and then the truck in general. He must have really liked it because before I knew it he was telling me to take it easy and he was just giving me a verbal warning. You just never know, I would have thought the gauges being so obvious would have caused it to go the other way. Mr Trooper for one and me for two sure like how the pillar pod looks.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

The gage I'm looking at is the Westach 3C86T8. WESTACH (http://www.frostalarm.com/cat/pg22.gif) It's a 3 inch dual face 0 to 30 psi boost on top and a 200 to 1400 deg. F EGT on the bottom. They make a lot of unusual gages that you won't find anywhere else. How about the triple EGT: left bank on the left gage, right bank on the right gage, and post turbo on the center???

DMAX2DAMAX, I really like the guages! Too bad that I can't catch a deal like you did on them.
