I'm determined to find the real problem of the "hard pedal". I have heard of some ideas and such, but not seen any posts which outline a positive fix. The intention of this post is to get a list of people who have had the "hard pedal" syndrome and what was done that definately corrected the problem.

Please keep this thread to positive fixes, not speculation. The facts, just the facts, maam!

I'm looking at clutch replacement later this year, as I think I can milk it for the summer, but don't want to spend my hard earned money on a solution that doesn't work.

Thanks for the responces in advance.

My 02 started getting hard pedal when I installed my predator programmer. A new clutch fixed the problem and the clutch doesn't slip anymore...which also solved the hard pedal situation. Hope this helps.

J-Heff, what clutch did you install? Was it OEM replacement, or an upgrade form Southbend or another vendor.

Thanks.

I just have had the SBC clutch put while my truck was having the updated flywheel installed. No more hard pedal at all. The original clutch that came out had been slipping for sometime. Looking at the pressure plate of the old one there was to burnt or blued place about 2" in diameter 180 degrees apart from one another. It appears that the plate was warped and the only points it was holding the disk was at the the two points. With the SBC in it feels as if the truck has 50 more usable horsepower now.

I went through 2 DMF's, both produced the hard clutch after driving on the hwy for a long time w/ or w/o a chip, the pedal was hard but the pressure point didn't change.

On the last DMF w/ a chip, everytime I slipped the clutch (not on-purpose) in 6th at first, then it would do it in 5th, then 4th, the clutch pedal would be hard immediately afterward with the pedal staying near the floor with the pressure point about 1/2" off the floor. I had to put my toe under the pedal to force it back up and pump it a couple of times before it would get back to normal.

I put in CPMac's single disc w/ the kevlar clutch and haven't had a hard clutch pedal since.

Fyi..
