what is the life expectancy of these neww llm motors. how many miles they rated for

LMM - designed for 200,000 miles per gm.

There is a member that already has 200k on his and last I knew it was going strong.

I have had gas engines, last that long.I thought these diesel engines would go well over 500 thousand miles

my 6.5 had 268,000 on it and is still going strong. The LMM is a far superior engine so with decent care 3 or 400,000 miles wouldn't be a suprise at all - at stock or close to stock power levels.

thats GM's B10 rating. So in any given group of LMM's, 10% will fail before 200k

Take that rating with a grain of salt. It doesnt mean anything; just a rough guestimate. PLENTY of duramax's with 400-500k, many over that, with no problems. Dont park your truck at 199,500 miles because you think at 200,001 miles the pistons will fall out.

I changed one out under warranty w/ about 50K on the clock. Homebrew bio gone bad!!

my 97 5.7l 350 has over 200k on it and it has never had more than the manifold off of it. it will run for another 200k too i bet. the dmax will go to 500000 at least i would say.
