: Hot Juice, laying over
fannypack 04-02-2005, 02:03 AM Edge was kind enough to re-flash my 125 hp juice to thier 145 hp box (free of charge, including shipping). Edge is very customer friendly.
but, I noticed tonight that when I launched my 4x4, 2003, dually on level 5, it would pull like a raped ape but lay on its face going into 2nd gear. Defueling is off (trans has been redone), and the EGT defueling was set at 1450.
Is the stock PCM still defueling regardless of what the EDGE box is set up for?
I'm thinking of upgrading to the TTS extreme box, since I'm guessing that TTS changes the stock PCM box.
Anyone else have this problem. Other than that, the super hot juice works great.
RyanU 04-02-2005, 04:39 AM checked your fuel filter? what kinda tranny work? lift pump?
nwpadmax 04-02-2005, 08:07 AM Disconnect the pyro leads and it won't defuel for EGT reasons (eliminates one variable).
will w 04-02-2005, 09:45 AM my truck does the same. my tranny is stock but i only run 90HP. it will lay over when it hits second then the power will roll on all the while i have the go pedal crammed to the floor. egts are not the case on mine and i also have the defuel off. wil
drhutch 04-02-2005, 09:49 AM Mine did that also. VERY plugged fuel filter.
Diesel Power 04-02-2005, 12:27 PM Tim H,
maybe its your tranny slipping? have you hooked up a tech2?
remember all OJ modules will defuel to a point.
fannypack 04-02-2005, 07:33 PM Tim H,
maybe its your tranny slipping? have you hooked up a tech2?
remember all OJ modules will defuel to a point.Nope on the tranny slipping, Mike L did a good job for me I hope:)
The motor just lays over, so I'm guessing that the stock computer is defueling regardless of what the edge box tells it. Very pronounced on level 5.
I have two lift pumps and have 7 psi at the motor when it does it, so I'm guessing its got fuel..
McRat 04-02-2005, 07:57 PM There is a large RPM drop on the 1-2 shift.
Make sure you crank the "LOW RPM FUELING" on the attitude to the max to try and alleviate the problem.
I noticed the same thing. New fuel filter and egt still under 1250 at that point.
96dragshee 04-02-2005, 10:19 PM I've noticed my truck not having the power it use to.If I re-install my factory tune run the truck then re-install the 120 extreme tune, it runs like a raped ape at first then gradually softens up to where it only feels like a 50 hp tune.Smoke goes away also. When I first install the 120 tune it smokes alot, but after a day or so ,it only smokes when I jump on it hard from a stand still.
fannypack 04-06-2005, 02:59 AM There is a large RPM drop on the 1-2 shift.
Make sure you crank the "LOW RPM FUELING" on the attitude to the max to try and alleviate the problem.Nope, its not due to the 1-2 drop, since it does it regardless of tow haul or not (converter slippage of 50% makes the drop un noticiable). And how would low rpm fueling be an issue at WOT? (its set at 5 anyway)
I've talked to others that have had the same problem. I'm thinking its because the stock defueling is pulling the power to stock, regardless of the defueling option on the box.
Edge won't respond to my emails either.
Maybe its time for the TTS extreme...

Mackin 04-06-2005, 06:17 AM Reset tap cells turn off EGT limit. The 1/2 shift has always been quick on my truck 2/3 is a bit different or "could" shift differently according to throttle position.
Good luck FannyPack'er
Micheal Tomac 04-06-2005, 12:35 PM Shut off EGT backdown (it resets itself in a max of 30 minutes or if the truck is restarted) the EDGE is probably defueling because you're hitting 1450 degrees
ratlover 04-06-2005, 12:41 PM What mike said
Dragshee.....the TTS Xtreme tune is not the 120 tune. The 120 aint got nuthin on the Xtreme  Check to see if you have any codes also? Check your fuel filter. What trans? No lift pump I assume. Shouldnt need it with the 120 though. You have aux filtration?
96dragshee 04-06-2005, 08:25 PM Truck hasn't set any codes.Don't have aux.fuel filter.Stock trans.Have about 5000 miles on this fuel filter.Want the TTS extreme but not ready to dish out the big money for the tranny.Going to change my filter tomorrow.
GRMax 04-06-2005, 11:48 PM My HJ/Attitude on 2001 also defuels, or does something that feels like that. Always wondered about it but never asked why. Will have to check out EGT limit.

So the question is, how do you reset the TAP CELL like Mac mentioned..
And what is the process to bypass the backdown?
this may be the answer. thanks
Diesel Power 04-07-2005, 02:38 AM you need a tech2 to reset the tap cells.
...you need a tech2 to reset the tap cells.
Will only a tech2 work or is that something a Quad will also do? I havnt recv'd mine yet.

There was rumor that the Quad tuner does but know one seems to mention it.As Nick said a Tech II is required beyond that. Perhaps your service guy could do you a favor if you don't know of one close by.Just don't tell him the actual why,I'm sure you know that ,tell him it's a little quirky and some Friend (Gm tech, fib a lil) said try it to clean up the shifts.
It will take no time and if you have a decent relationship should be no cost involved
gmccall 04-07-2005, 09:22 AM About the tranny shifts,
If I drive around like "Granny", the tranny is very slow to shift. Make a couple 1/4 mile runs and the tranny shifts very quick, for awhile. When I drive around in slow traffic mode and then make an occasional peddle to floor 0- 100 + - mph burst, the tranny shifts are not near as firm as when I drive away from the track after a day of racing. This seems the nature of the beast. I read somewhere that a few , keep the "kill" learn in tow haul. Use Tow Haul to race in only (unless you pull, etc).
ratlover 04-07-2005, 10:18 AM I dont believe the allison learns "how you drive". It will learn if you change power levels or if you change weight drasticly but it wont sens that you have been driving like a little old lady for awhile and start to soften things up and forget what to do at WOT. Now if you teach it something new at WOT(like changing power levels) then it may soften its self up. JMO and what I have expereinced, no real scientific testing. I could be wrong.
Quads tuner will put the trans in fast learn or at least part of it. But I just had my snapon scanner to look at what it did afterwards, I duno if it cleared em all or what exactly it did but all the cells I could see on my scanner were in fast. Snapon scanner dosnt show everything and dosnt show stuff too well though but IMO the quads deal partialy works at least.......
Kennedy 04-07-2005, 11:11 AM If I mistakenly do the trans reset in the Quad tuner on the dyno the shifts get very harsh so I'd say yes it does.
Got Juice? 04-07-2005, 11:59 AM If I mistakenly do the trans reset in the Quad tuner on the dyno the shifts get very harsh so I'd say yes it does.
Bully Dog's Power Pup has the same features on V2.04 to current.
Reset Transmission.
96dragshee 04-07-2005, 05:43 PM What are tap cells?
ratlover 04-08-2005, 10:07 AM The values your trans has learned for each type of shift(throttle position and gear its going into up or down ect) IIRC its target apply pressure or something like that, Mike or smoop or others would actually remember. Basicly its the stuff your trans has learned.....you tell it to forget what it has learned, go back to the factory default, and go into "fast learn"(it will adapt much quicer for a bit) when you clear the TAP's and it will start to alter off the factory default settings.
96dragshee 04-08-2005, 07:04 PM What is needed to clear or reset the tap cells.
