David,
You may want to PM Quantum Mechanic. He is in Texas and works on 6.5's. He has a lot of knowledge and can probably help you. he is closer to Houston but may be able to help you, if not he may be able to point you to someone that can.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Abilene too far? Abilene Diesel is one of the best, but thats a 3hr drive for you. 152 miles by MapQuest. Looks like your Closest 3 options are Dallas, Lubbock or Abilene though.

I think DIS (Diesel Injection Service) has a small place in Witchita Falls, try (940) 733-5544.

Thanks guys. The truck is frustrating the heck out of me. Put a used pump on it and when the factory timing lines are lined up it won't stay running and is very hard to start. Last night I bumped the timing a little closer to where the old pump was and it will run but is hard to start and has little power. I got an extra PMD to plug in but can't get the resistor out of the old one. How the heck do you get that thing out? I extended the harness for the PMD so it's not a problem to change them. Could the harness extension be a problem?

What model # is the used pump?
I'm always suspect of harness extensions...and used IPs for that matter.

What do you need fixed; that would help so we can better advise you, I'd be willing to bet with a little help from talent assembled here, unless it's major we could talk you through any problem, you could learn a little as you go, and you can save yourself some serious coinage.

We were posting at same time last post, paperclip with "Ell" L formed in the end to fish out old cal resistor, or micro tool needle nose pliers CAREFULLY straddle pins and "walk" it off the pins a little up side to side while pulling up.

Going to pull the extended harness in the next couple of days and see it that helps. Also, I am getting lots of black smoke on acceleration.

Heavy black smoke on accel, normally associated with WG not functioning.

Before getting too deep re-ask this in an independent thread this is a common one needs to be a FAQ we will use your question to start the discussion how to fix it which I'll add to the list.

QM/everybody,

I appreciate the effort but please wait for the repost to relpy, we are losing too much good info/discussion in threads going off in another direction. The search engine is difficult to use as is, Title of this thread is Repair shop in N Texas, hard for me to FAQ link or somebody searches later for this pertinent topic we have seen time & again.

Help me out to better the forum, ask poster to repost separately then contribute to solution in the new thread.

Can't the title be modified to help clear that up???

I can but question was where is a good shop in TX several have replied to that question. Not a big deal with this thread except if I change title then next I'll have to cut out the Tx shop replies as the question is at the bottom of the thread.

Just easier thread management and a better read for members if we stay on topic as best we can within a given subject
