Hey guys, I found a 6.2 K5 the other day on craigslist and emailed the guy about it. He said it has a lifter noise to it and was told it had a bad rocker arm assembly. It has 140k miles on it and like 2276 hours (didn't know they had hour meters). Anyway, just wondering how difficult or costly these problems would be to fix?

He also said it was an "ex-cor" blazer which I'm assuming he meant a military blazer. In the pics (attached) it looks like a civilian blazer unless it was repainted and a different front clip was put on?

I'd go look at it in person and inspect but its 3 hours away.

FYI: I'm looking for one as a small project/offroading toy so I don't want to dump a ton of money into it.

Thanks for your help!!

Good intentions or not, I have an impossible time assessing repairs and costs thereof on things that I've been told was wrong. Most every time I've gone on someone elses diagnosis I"ve found that the problem was elsewhere after I'd wasted the time to plan and estimate repairs for "said" problem. I think the thing you should be asking yourself is if the purchase price makes it worthwhile to you to put more money into it and how much you'd be willing to put into it. Good luck.:beerchug:

Never having been in a military blazer, I thought the military put hour meters in most all of the diesel vehicles for maintance schedules. I have no miltary time but I know my '85 JeepCJ10a had one, never seen any other Jeep with an hour meter excpet the CJ10a(they had nissan 33sd diesels).

It does look like a civilian blazer, it could have just been a civilian vehicle purchased for use around bases. It doesn't look terrible, but it does look like it has been sitting in that field for a while. Like said above, consider how much time and money you want to stick into it, and make an offer from there.
