DIESEL 5 12-11-2003, 12:21 PM BigRed,
The Ram Air is fiberglass and it is functional. Do you see any problems with that??

DIESEL 5 12-11-2003, 02:00 PM What about this :
Air BullDog hood (http://members.tripod.com/~dpofutah/id39.htm)
DIESEL 5 12-11-2003, 02:07 PM Do they make it for a duramax?
BlueOx03 12-11-2003, 02:13 PM First off, you're killing me dude..no more toys for you!
Get a stock hood, Ratdoc has one.
Did your truck turn into a Germexican Ram? It appears that they only make the hoods to fit those. Am I missing something here?

DIESEL 5 12-11-2003, 02:24 PM Ox,
Relax don't turn this tread into "The War Room"
Anyway its the Holiday Season I gotta get more toys. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
Which one does RatDoc has?
Hired Gun 12-11-2003, 02:53 PM I want a hood for my 04 chevy, but I cant seem to find one I like. I love the one with the flameds out gmc. Is there one for me?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
spindrift 12-11-2003, 04:16 PM Hoot,
I'm assuming that you have cowl induction. Have you modified the underside of the hood in any way to direct air to the turbo? Any problems with rain? Has anyone modified the air supply snorkel to gain greater air volume?
What are the best methods for increasing air volume delivery to the 6.5TD?
dmaxalliTech 12-11-2003, 05:11 PM hoot, what kind of $$ for that hood, it would look good on a blue CC
SteelMastiff 12-11-2003, 05:42 PM I want a hood for my 04 chevy, but I cant seem to find one I like. I love the one with the flameds out gmc. Is there one for me?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
Hired Gun, What do you think adout this one?

Sorry for the bad paint job.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Do a google search for Reflexxion. I will have one on my truck as soon as the wife cools down about the Juice with Tude.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
1bad01 12-11-2003, 05:55 PM I had a 4inch Harwood fiberglass cowl scoop molded into my factory hood by a friend who has a body shop and I think it looks awsome. The reason I did it this way is because all of the aftermarket hoods dont have the bulge in the front that the HD's have, plus I think 4inches is a lot meaner lookin than 2 1/2........and I think that bulge is what separates a Hd from a 1500 in looks (unless you have a GMC then you dont have a bulge to begin with)......from the font anyway........Cost was about the same as buying a whole hood and getting it painted. BlueOx03 12-12-2003, 02:42 AM I'm pretty sure Ratdoc has the steel Goodmark you posted above. Looks pretty smooth, check the CT Dyno Day III pics for pics or ask Hootie if he has some. I really ment for you to buy his stock hood though.
Ox
P.S. I still hate you!
DIESEL 5 12-12-2003, 09:47 AM Ox,
Thanks for the info, I LOVE YOU TOO. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/11/11_1_125.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001)
Professor 12-12-2003, 10:07 AM Hoot - Is your hood a Goodmark or a Reflexxion?
Hired Gun - Reflexxion just started shipping the cowl hood for the 03-04. The have two other versions that may have shipped or will soon.
As far as fiberglass, I have yet to see one that lasted more than a couple of years without problems. I've seen them warp, and in a couple of cases the top layer delaminated. Going down the highway losing a 5x6 chunk of Fiberglass is not good. There may be some good glass hoods out there but if steel is an option, I feel it is a better choice.
Mine is Goodmark. The bodyshop purchased it. Not sure what they paid. The cost got swallowed up into my tree damage repair. No extra cost to me.
Right now it's set up factory stock. No air intake.
Ratdoc has the same hood.
BigRedDMaxx 12-12-2003, 12:21 PM Diesel 5,
I don't have any experience with fiberglass hoods to know if there are any issues to watch out for, but I seem to be developing "stress cracks" on my dually fenders already.
Stylinconcepts also has steel hoods but they're not functional ram airs.
Later,
Big Red
Hired Gun 12-12-2003, 01:05 PM SteelMastiff!!!!! Man that is the hood for me. I have the reflexxion site. I am calling for one today. You made my day.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif
DIESEL 5 12-12-2003, 01:34 PM Guys help,
I need your opinion quick, making a decision Today.
I like em both, but I am leaning toward this one.
http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/A66_RAMAIR2.jpg
Hired Gun 12-12-2003, 03:15 PM That one is cool!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
BlueOx03 12-12-2003, 03:19 PM If it was me, I'd go for the ram air. I would rather have a steel hood though. There I have the advantage over you for once, I currently have a hood, I can wait. Of coarse I wouldn't guess that a glass hood would have any problems in the SoCal climate, so that'd be what I would go with.
BTW You owe me a carne asada burrito for this advise...
Ox
DIESEL 5 12-12-2003, 07:58 PM Ox,
Thanks for the advice.
I'll be ordering the ram air on Monday, I hope it looks good.
P.S: I'll sell you my 20", I'm looking for 22" http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_111.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001)

BlueOx03 12-16-2003, 04:10 PM Yeah get that plate and send me your address...Then wonder where one went...
MacGordon 12-16-2003, 04:54 PM My experience with the ram-air hood (which looks great) is that they do not work well in tandom with a grill guard. There is a vibration problem from the aerodynamics.
Everyone that I know that has both a full grill guard and a ram-air hood has a vibration sound coming from the hood. They have told me that it is visible when it rains. The water on the hood shakes and it can be quite annoying.
So if anyone does go with the ram-air hood, be sure not to use a full grill guard also.
SteveCA 12-17-2003, 01:23 AM I have the Reflexion cowl induction hood on my supercharged Suburban. The hood looks great but...
You can't pull out the passenger side wipers like your accustomed to (no big deal)
You will have your AC working triple time in the summer if you do city driving or stop very much as your fresh air intake sucks hot underhood air into your cabin. I avoid the problem by putting the system into recirculate.
Other than these inconveniences, its great and looks killer.

Notice the same with the wipers and my Goodmark. Haven't had it in the summer yet but I have the insulation in place unnder the hood so I don't think that will be an issue.
