I'm thinking of trading in my 07 LBZ (35K on it) for an LMM. Anyone have an idea of how much this runs?

How are the LMMs holding up to towing compared to the LBZ? We tow a 13K toy hauler with ours :D

thanks!

I would keep the LBZ imo, i had one before my LMM and regret getting rid of it.

I did...the LMM is impressive, but my LBZ got much better gas mileage. As much as I like my LMM, I still miss my LBZ! I do love the now look and interior though!!!

Why the decision to run a K & N filter? Just curious...

Unless you have a need for a new truck or reasons not listed here, keep your LBZ. The LBZ is the same motor as the LMM, just with less JUNK on the emissions.

Good luck.

I hear you on keeping it. I don't have money to waste, just like the look of the new one. I got this when the new ones hit the dealers - got a great deal on it.

I put on the K&N because I like keeping the filter clean, I'm pretty good about cleaning it. My mileage went up a little (not much), and I've had no MAF problems. Then again I don't kill it with oil :)

thanks for the inputs - I'll probably keep the truck since I do love it and it tows like a bear!

I'm almost tempted to trade you my LMM with 12k miles on it. What part of the country are you in? :nopics:

LBZ is the best Duramax. Why would you trade it in and take a financial beating and get a more problematic engine.

Just for that wood grain fly paper on the dash??

No proof that the lmm is more problematic, it is the same engine as the LBZ, the only change is a much nicer body style and a DPF.:D

I would have to agree. i wanted the new body style because the obs was what, probably about 8 years old. I wanted something different....
And, i realize it took a little more money, but i have no emmisions junk left on my engine. its like an LB7 now, only more power

True. way nicer looking truck, the old style looks really dated now. Im going to wait until my warranty is done then I will pull the dpf off the truck. By then the lmm will only be just broken in and working at its best.....

I love the look of the reg cab long box, my first dmax was a reg cab as you can see in my garage, too bad I have the need for a crew cab now, I love the reg cab trucks.......maybe my next one.....

Wow no love for the LMM. I love mine love the looks, interior, and the emissions are easy to get rid of. The LBZ's looks and interior were dated to say the least. And yes I owned a LBZ before.

Get the LMM, take the DPF off and you'll be all set.

I went from a 2500 LB7 w/tuner to a dually LMM. Honestly, I didn't loose but 1-1.5mpg towing the same camper, 1-3 mpg around town, and 2-4 highway, same driving habits with a truck that weighs 1300# more and 2 extra wheels. Is a couple on mpg's worth spending $1000's and wasting a warranty to mod? People stop me all the time to say what a nice truck I have, never happened with the '02. I love the options ava. on the LMM as compared to the classics and apparently other people like the new look too.
I could have got an LBZ but the NBS overuled the emissions.
It's your decision. Trading for 1 or 2 years up may or may not be cost effective. Looks like a couple of guys are willing to work a trade!:)

... and warranty goes "poof". (not to mention the hit you'll take on resale value)

has anybody without a dpf had any emmisions or inspection problems? and how many people with dpf delete have gotten there whole warranty voided? just curious

My dealer isn't voiding warranty and as far as the resale just put it back on before you sale.

Ive had several problems with emissions related crap, rattles inside the cabin and electrical issues. Poor fuel economy, truck sounds like a vaccum cleaner. Interior is small and looks like a car and now my buddie has a 08 F250 that unfortunatly i had to borrow cause mine was back at the dealer again. To my surprise his truck handled my 12000lb. loaded trailer much better than i expected. His 3/4ton truck weighs 1000lbs more than my 2500HD which may be one reason it feels so much more in control when pulling a big load. I think the second reason is the Ford has a massive live axle in the front that makes my IFS look like a toy. I'm sure that heavy front end helps to keep big loads under control. On top of all this the F250 has better brakes, better ride and has absolutly no squeaks or rattles inside the cabin. The funny thing is mine is defintly faster unloaded but when you put a load behind it there is definitly no difference in power and the F250 may even have the edge on me. Ive never had a Ford diesel in the past but I may have to switch over. Does the Chevy 3500HD have a solid front axle?

i know that the ford steering is way more heavy duty

I love the looks of the F250 and I considered and almost bought one before I decided on the Silverado. The Silverado was always my first choice. I won't be towing nearly as much as a lot of others so that wasn't an issue with me - the biggest determination for me was the interior - I like the GM interior much better and I drove both. In all my research I found a lot more complaints and issues with Ford and Dodge than I did with GM. I personally haven't experienced any rattling or noises in my truck and it's much more refined than my classic ever was. The F250 was a close second to my Silverado but in my heart I have always been a GM guy and in the end I loved the interior of the Silverado much better. To each their own and if you decide to get a Ford I hope you enjoy it! I'd take one over a Dodge.

I think they all have their issues and i'm sure i just got one of the lemons. I definitly like the Duramax / Allison combo and thus is why I have stayed with GM. Either way I wish I had my old LLY back over my new LMM.

I traded in an LBZ for a 2008 LMM both GMC's and I am very pleased. The power and Economy are similar but the 2008 is a definite step up as far as the truck itself. Would I do it again, yes I am happy. I do not use mine as a daily driver but enjoy pulling my fifth wheel, slide-in camper and various trailers behind that. I have had no problems with mine since Oct of 2007 and it is way more comfortable to me.

I looked at all of them as well. Stayed on the forums trying to get as much research as I could. The 6.7L Dodge was out because of the turbo issues. The Ford interior was shitty with some problems (diesel in the fuel). The Chevy was my best bet and I love it. Alot of these guys post mileage issues, but frankly my mileage has been really good. An all stock truck gets 21 on all highway with 1 regen. If I am fortunate enough to drain a tank on the interstate without the regen, I'll get 23 mpg (DIC reported). City driving is in the neighborhood of 15-17. But I drive like Mrs. Daisy.
