I have an 05 LLY/Allison. 35's, Intake, Exhaust and Hypertech on 3. I will be towing about 5,000 lbs this weekend up a long, slow grade. Should I turn it down a notch?? I'd rather not have to pull over & do it.
Thanks for comments.

you should be fine on that setting. Hypertech doesn't put any tow restrictions on there programmers and 5000lbs isn't anything for your duramax to pull even with the 35's. your exhaust should handle the excess load fine.

If you don't have gauges turn it down. Later! Frank

Hypertech told me to tow in level 2. My 5er is 10k. I say play it safe. Level 2 is plently of power.

Without a pyrometer, it's a crapshoot. I will tow that much weight (more) with 395rwhp (120HP tune) but I don't keep it nailed, and I have a built trans.
There are 2 issues with tuners: EGT's and trans. If you sustain EGT's over 1350 for extended periods, you might hurt the turbo. If you floor the truck and it downshifts from 5 to 4 with a bunch of HP and a load, it can slip the trans.
To play it safe, stay at about 50RWHP over stock, and you don't need gauges and aren't going to hurt the trans. At least on my truck.
A 50HP tune will pull 10,000lb up a 6% grade at 75mph. How fast do you want to go in the mountains?

i have hypertech on level 2 its easy to bury the et guage going up hills and steep grades, i have upgraded the exhaust and the air intake when i got my hypertech . when pulling my trailor empty ,my gross combined weight is at 15000 , going up hill above 55 will take the et guage to 1200 easy, when i have a load in my dump trailor im at around 26000 at 40 mph its easy to get it at 1200. at 50 mph im at 1450, so i back off the pedal when my ets start to climb .i try not to go over 1200 so u should take it easy going up hills when pulling trailor and take it even easier if your pulling a heavy load up a hill . these are single lane curvy hilly roads i travel on everyday . 04.5 D/A 3500 LT crew cab long bed dually etc.
