Hi fellas,
I bought this truck about a year ago with a new rebuilt engine. Had 50 miles on it. Back then I noticed a couple weeks after I had it, if I laid on it on the highway the MIL would come on around 75-80.

About 2 months ago I started experiencing the classic symptoms of a bad PMD. I purchased a HeatSync/PMD and relocated the it in front of the driver's battery. All stalling issues are gone.

But if I lay on it, I'm still getting the light. Now at around 60ish. Sometimes the light gos back out after several min. Sometimes I have to wait till she's shut off for it to reset. Still throwing code 35 everytime. I'll be running along and as soon as the light appears you feel her get sluggish and not want to accelerate anymore. She will but really slowly. It's like all the power is gone.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Fill in your signature in the "User CP" area with the specs of your truck (year, make, model, mods, etc...) That'll help us figure out what's going on.

According to FAQ info here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18282 that is a pulse width error don't see how PMD swap would cause that maybe one of ourt IP gurus would care to weigh in why

Code 35, FSOL CTIME short. With PMD ruled out there are only to remaining possible causes, (A) air in fuel supply to IP, or (B) wear to FSOL / poppet valve spring. A usually requires pulling the tank sender out and repairing it, B requires injection pump replacement.

When you changed the FSD did you move the calibration resistor from old to new? Did you buy a wire harness extention or do it yourself? I have heard that the length and guage of the wires to the FSD can affect its function.

Man,

I'm starting to wonder about the PMD. It was sold on EBay as new for a replacement that wasn't needed. They had a return policy. And the stalling problem did go away. The light coming on when passing or getting on it hard has always been there.

I didn't bother with the wire harness. As an electrical engineer, I know any soldering done correctly is going to be better than solderless connections. I cut and added approx 18" to get the HeatSync over to the drivers side battery. Used heat-shrink on all the connections. Also stepped up the gauge on the wire just incase I would have mounted further away. The wire is shorter than any harness being sold that I found. I left the old PMD where it was and bought a #9 to install.

I've seen the threads everywhere pointing a code 35 at the PMD. My gut says to send it back...

What do you guys think?

Thanks, Mike

PMD is fine, Pump is probably on it's way out.

NoooooooooooooooooooooooooCensored

Can that be tested on the truck? Or do I have to take her off. Do to time and knowledge, she'll probably get dropped at a shop. Any recommendations on rebuyild or new and who to get it from?

Thanks again,
Mike

Since your on a remote mount, it would be quick and easy to plug another one in and see what it does. Only problem is finding a good one with out buying a brand new one.
