I have a stock reg cab 07 duramax and want to remove the cat and muffler and put a straight pipe on it... What is the max size I can go without harming the engine? Does back pressure matter on diesels? Also, will it throw any codes if I do this? Thanks for the help, I'm a diesel novice.... :D

I've got 5" all the way back and have for 13,000 miles and have not had any issues or codes, Except I can't keep my foot off the petal.:D I would go for it. Sounds Great.

Did you (or can you) block any codes with the edge? I'm probably going to straight pipe the van in my sig soon.

when i piped mine before any other mods it would throw egr codes every time I pulled a trailer. I can't remember the number but it was egr low flow or somn like that. not a big deal just anoying that the cel came on every time I hooked up. Easy fix for the egr codes related to free flowing exhaust is a blocker plate and finger stick. Easy install takes about 30-45min.

No Edge will not block any codes, It will clear them though.

I dont want to throw codes on it, cant have any evidence of a programmer/tuner for now. Guess I could just keep clearing it if it's just a egr code...

Chevkid03: Back pressure is not needed compared to a gasser with a turbo. Some have run 7 to 8 inch stacks out the bed. Some at drag strips run the exhaust right off the turbo and out the hood. Codes can vary.

lotsofmiles: One would need to use EFI-Live to keep the code from popping up. Also wonder since you mention another new transmission if this not the first time. If not then you may want to looking into a built 4L85E when dealer is going to charge you for the replacement.

Mine codes every now and then when I tow heavy. Sounds awesome. It is loud as hell if you tow heavy though. I have been running a muffler for a while now. It was just to loud towing. You coul not talk in the cab. Def go with a 5in. I wish I did just for the look.

Question? How do you like your Banks 6 Gun, and how do you like the Monster Exhaust? Nice Sound? Too Loud, are you running the converter

I like the exhaust, others complain about drone, but I dont hear it. No cat. It has a little rumble at idle, just enough to tell its not stock. Sometimes I like to roll down the window going thru small towns so I can hear it echoing off the buildings...

And I do like the 6gun. It has performed as advertised. If you are looking for easy no-brainer fairly safe on the fly tuning. I really like the warnings that are set to sound off before things get too far out of hand, egt's engine/trans temps etc..

Often dealers and warranty claims are not affected by exhaust mods as long as they are after the cat, but removing it is questionable. If you have a good relationship with your dealer they may look the other way.

I have my Banks Monster Exhaust in the garage waiting on warmer weather to install. No tuner of any kind. Should I be ordering the EGR Blocker and finger stick?

Do it, i did mine and its great. Cant hear it with the windows up but roll em down and you got a little bit. I really dont think its loud enough but o well. Lotsa Turbo whistle. The bad part is the annoying hiss on WOT. I hot one CEL abd 2 weeks after i got it SP, I hooked my friends bully dog to it and cleared it and it hasnt been on since. That was 4 months ago.

Mine only codes when I tow heavy every now and then. I put the banks muffler on now to tow and it still codes.
