I just bought a new 2005 GMC 2500 HD/A 4X4 and really liked the truck until I was driving back in from Memphis, Tn and the transmission didn't want to downshift when I stopped at a red light, so I had to make a slow take off, like the old fluid drive, but it went but never shifted. Then the Check Engine light came on. I had to stop by the bread store and it was under a hill so I said to my self, I hope I can pull from under this hill if not the dealer I bought it from was just over the hill. So I shut it off and got my bread and when I started it it worked great again but the engine light was still on so I stopped by the dealer and they read the code and cleared it and said it was a sensor going out but the sent me on my way instead of fixing it.
The next morning I was backing out of my drive got in the middle of the road and it would not move, so I shut it off and restarted it and it worked great, so I went stright to the dealer and tole the what happened and it also said something on my DAC that there was something wrong with the shifter, So I let the dealer know.
The dealer said the sensors needed replaced and they would have to keep it a couple of days. Got a rental for me. A coupled of days turned into a week, so I called GMC about it and they couldn't belive it. They said they replaced a cupple of sensors and put it back together and called me to come get it.
So I go get it and it worked fine. Then the next day I noticed an oil spot in my drive under the truck, Yep, Xmission fluid. I took it back and the Service supervisior said it was the drain plug and put some sealer on it and said it was fine. Picked up my truck.
Today I drive it and the fluid under it is worse than before. I take it back and the Supervisior says it the seal between the xfer case and the xmission.
Said due to that the fluid was comming out of the over flow tube in the xfer case. Could they have put in the wrong parts in and causeing to much pressure to build up, causeing the flud leak?
I got to think a while ago and when it went into the shop for the first time it only had 1084 miles on it and it didn't have any leaks at all until they messed with it..
I think I've been lyed to again.
See if I get it back today as promised.
I think I need to demand for the dealed to get me a new truck under the Mississippi Lemon Law.
This is the first and I think the last I will ever own, If I can get out of it.
Anyone with a problem like this please let me know what you did.
I feel I can't trust the truck now.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I know it long.

Your vehicle has an excellant warranty on it, I would go to another dealer and tell them the story you told us. And if all else fails talk to the OWNER of the dealership. Screw everyone this is your truck and you spent alot of cash on it. Make it happen

Thanks to all that has helped me with your answers. I'll try your sugesstions.
It relly has me upset about the whole deal. I'm going to drive it all week-in and see what happens. If it's still messed up, I will take it to a new dealer after I talk to the owner of this one, which I'm going to do if he is in as soon as I get dressed.

I think they may have it fixed. Like you said just a little bad luck. The sensors was the cause for the tranny not shifting and they found the factory had torn the seal detween the tranfer case and the tranmission. They replace that and it appears to be doing fine now we will know for sure in about another 1000 miles to see if it going to leak again.

Thats about the milage was when it started and with the seal torn, it filled the xfer case full and it was running out the overflow tube.
So if you have a leak it may not be just the filter or gasket.
Thanks To All:

Tom,
I had a similar experience as you, just not the transmission. It was a torsion bar problem, actually the whole bolt stripped and the left side of the truck slammed down when I was just getting in the truck. Anyway, this was within the first week I had my truck and couldn't believe a truck this expensive would do something like that. I went from loving my truck to absolutely hating it and never wanting to own another one... matter of fact, I test drove a ford F250 because I knew they didn't have torsion bars, and almost bought it.... but after a year with this truck, I would never want another one and love every minute of it. Don't make any irrational decisions about unloading it, until you've had a chance to truly experience the good qualities of this truck.
