My 6.0L Burb has about 1500 miles on it now. I was thinking of doing a swap to fully synthetic across the board (engine, trans and rear end).

I have been a part of countless shop talks where folks on both sides of the fence have said either zero is the best mileage to start using synthetic (look the Vette comes with factory fill fully synthetic motor oil and most of the trucks have it in the diffs). Yet there is a large number of folks that swear using conventional oil for the break in period is the right way to go.

So, now that my truck came with mostly conventional oils, when is a good mileage to consider the change over to synthetic?

Whenever you feel like it. I have started vehicles on full synthtic at 1500 miles and as high as 120,000 miles. No problems, no worries.

I agree, you can run synthetic at anytime. The sooner the better though!!!

I concur! I switched my 6.0 to synthetic at 1250 miles and I saw absolutely no oil consumption or problems of any kind using either petroleum or synthetic.

This is probably one of those things that will never be agreed upon, but I'm in the camp that tends to believe you can run synthetic whenever you wish.
