Any ideas on how to release the lower latch on the rear door of an extended cab? My driver side will not open because the lower latch will not release. I'm wondering if there isn't a way to release it from outside the truck? It pops open only a little at the bottom but will not release. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance. Chuck

For posterity, I pulled the handle that you would use to open the door from the outside and found the lower door latch rod hanging loose.

The upper fitting had broken. Removed the interior trim and removed the broken plastic parts.

The parts are available at your local auto parts store, mine cost 71 cents.

Good to go.
