: Could somone with an '05 do me a favor (check Windshield)
skoryaro2 03-31-2005, 07:20 PM Had to have my windshield on my '05 replaced today due to Mr. Rock and I having an unfortunate meeting :). THe new windhshield has the 4" tint / shade band at the top (this is a plus in my book). I could swear that the OEM windshield didn't have the tint.
To satisfy my curiosity, could somone with an '05 check to see if your OEM windshield has the shade band - please!

I think there were a few discussions regarding this as one of those areas where the general has found some $ to save...
2jranch 03-31-2005, 07:30 PM Unfortunately the "05"s don't come with tinted windshields. It's another one of the little cutbacks. I didn't realize it until I also had to have it replaced.

RichLube 03-31-2005, 07:39 PM My 05 Chevy doesn't have a tint band at all. Just the inch and a half black edge on the glass. GMC may be different. When I was truck shopping a GMC salesman said that GMCs had 11 features that Chevy did not. When questioned he could not name one. Maybe a tint band is one of them. I was slightly disappointed that my truck, an LS, has no lock on the passenger side door or under hood light.Does your GMC have these features.

Max Power 03-31-2005, 08:16 PM In 04 they stopped coming with tint. I had to have my changed as well and my new one has tint and the 3rd visor.

RobI met Mr. Rock's mean brother while driving home from the dealer. Pist me off somthing fierce. The beeoch who passed me in a rice burner never looked back. I had my crack "repaired." I've NEVER had luck with windshield replacements. They ALL leaked water/air. :rant: I don't see how these windshield businesses stay open. How's yours doing? I hope well.
ssduramax 03-31-2005, 10:02 PM yup, my 04.5 didn't come with a tinted strip on the front either. coudn't believe it. I had to go to the tint shop to get it tinted but I don't like it as good as the factory tint on the front.
Who would have thought they would stop doing that?? da_ _ bean counters i guess. along with all the other stuff you get used to that mysteriously disappears on a "new" truck.
now that i think of it,, Mr. Rock may come visit me since the replacement windshield has the tint strip:rolleyes:

I've had probably 5 winshields replaced in the last 10 years and only had a problem with one which was promptly repaired. Installers do make a difference though.

I have a $100 deduct. on my comp. insurance. Most glass places will waive it so it doesn't cost me anything to replace them. IIRC they are about $200
