Given all the talk regarding the steering shaft rattle/low speed clunk, has anyone looked into aftermarket steering shaft options? I was looking over the Flaming River and Borgeson websites and while they didn't have a Duramax specific steering shaft, there were custom options. Just curious if anyone has tried a replacement shaft and if so, was there any improvement?
Thanks ahead for any input,
Regards,
Mark

I lubed mine up with boat grease and the rattle is gone.
We'll see how long its lasts but so far so good.
Did it 1 month ago with the instructions found here. http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3325
Just worked the grease down in the shaft till it was full then forced it through with a carpenters pencil or dowel shaved to fit.

Some that have installed the new shaft have reported that it did not fix the problem. I packed mine with Mobil 1 grease several months ago. So far so good. I also used this grease on the rear drive shaft splines. I thing I cured that problem for once and for all. Later! Frank

Got mine warranteed... but its been less than a week with no noise. I'll post again at 36,001 miles.
just got back from the dealer. My truck has over 40k and they replaced the steering shaft FREE. No extended GM warranty. I waited 40 min and "its ready" wow.
