I saw these while driving down the road today so I stopped and took a few pictures.

WAskier 03-31-2005, 07:26 PM Those things are freaking massive! They look like almost they came off a 4500/5500 and were adapted to fit. Would work well for towing I bet but IMO they're kinda ugly.
dieselfumes57 03-31-2005, 09:50 PM somebody from the ford dealership is gonna want his mirrors back! lol
WanaDmxsub 03-31-2005, 10:09 PM They are ugly!!!
But when it comes to towing mirrors I don't care.
Next time, track the guy down and find out where he got them.:D
You could hang a 12 pack off those arms.:ro)
OnEdit; They look like the mirrors that come with the Box van's???
WanaDmxsub 04-01-2005, 12:10 AM Found them.

There for the cutaways. He has the deluxe heads. Looks like you can get them in white and with power/heated heads. I submitted an RFQ.
WanaDmxsub 04-01-2005, 12:45 AM Found on Ebay for $375.00. Nope...not me. selling or buying.
case680e 04-01-2005, 07:55 AM I don't care what they look like as long as I can see the back end of my 100 inch wide trailer.
JJs DuMax 04-01-2005, 09:01 AM Those that tow longer platforms, say 35' and up trailers, would find these mirrors to be a major improvement over the RV extendable "freakin joke" mirrors on our trucks. Personally I'm looking for power adjustable and telescoping features so when I'm not towing they don't stick out so far.
"Purty mirrors" isn't what we're worried about, it's seeing what's behind us that matters. My .02 cents worth. Later. JJ :)
MaxRock 04-01-2005, 11:47 AM JJ I would recommend the TTT mirrors. Look at their website for details http://www.ttt-mirror.com/
MaxRock
tbyrne 04-01-2005, 11:49 AM Actually for me they have to be purty first and functional 2nd :) There are alot of very good mirrors on the market but they won't work with the looks that I want. I have a rear view camera installed on the truck (works great for hooking up) and also had one mounted on the back of my 32" car hauler Wednesday. That makes it so much easier to see what is going on back there. The picture comes up on my 7" Kenwood monitor up front. This might allow me to see everything I need to back there. I'll just have to see where the view from the mirrors ends and where this picks up.
vetterdstr 04-01-2005, 01:04 PM Those look ok... although the very best mirrors for towing and being able to see are the type that are used on Big Rigs... look like hell on a pick up truck though.

JJs DuMax 04-01-2005, 03:29 PM MaxRock, those TTT mirrors are sweet, expensive to! $608 installed plus tax. The manufacturer recommends professional installation which pretty rules ol' JJ out! ):h They extend out 22", I'm going to see how much I'm gaining over my OEM POS RV mirrors before plunking down that kind of money. :o:
vetterdstr, so true! :( And those strap on kind just look so ghetto! ):h JJ
Grey Ghost 04-01-2005, 04:36 PM JJ,
The install isn't that bad. They have some great, very detailed instructions in .pdf format on their website that you can check out. That's where I learned how to remove my door panel.:D
Gary
JJs DuMax 04-01-2005, 07:31 PM The OEM POS RV mirrors come out 20", the TTT's give me 22"? On the face of things it doesn't appear I would gain that much more with them. Then again maybe that additional vantage will allow me to see the back of the 5ver when I'm towing it.
I don't like that I can't see the rear sides of the trailer. Anyone else found anything that works? Maybe a little less expensive? Is JJ going to end up strapping something on, Ghetto JJ? :o: JJ :)
I was looking at those Velvac mirrors. U-Haul has started putting them on 1-ton based GM vans. I share the concern about being able to retract when not towing. I'm seriously considering a set of these:
http://www.visionviewmirrors.com/extendable_replacement_mirrors.htm
tbyrne 04-02-2005, 11:22 AM I was thinking about going with a set of those. Just don't like how far they stick out when they aren't extended.
case680e 04-02-2005, 01:06 PM I'm not sure how others are taking their measurements so here is what I did. I measured from the outside edge of the mirror glass to the window glass staying parallel to the ground (level) and perpendicular to the truck. I have the 2001 factory towing mirrors. Drivers side was 14 inches in and 18 inches out. The passenger side was 12.5 inches in and 16 inches out. Because the passenger side is angled more it starts with 2 inches less width when extended. I then put both windows down and measured mirror to mirror. 94 inches in and 101 inches extended. This gives me 51.5 inches from the centerline to the outside edge on the drivers side and 49.5 inches on the passengers side. My trailer is 100 inches wide not counting the awning supports. for the drivers side, I have at most 1.5 inches of mirror extending beyond the side of the trailer. The passengers side is 0.5 inches short and has no view down the side. Two extra inches for the drivers side would help giving me 3.5 inches of usable mirror. Two inches on the passengers side will clear the side of the trailer, but still won't be able to see past the awning rails. Better, but not worth the cost. I need something that will put the outer edges of the mirrors something like 110 to 116 inches apart or more. This is the first non-west coast type that I have seen that may allow me to see down both sides of the trailer. My only other option is a video system. That would show what is behind me but still not see the sides of the trailer. I would like to be able to retract the mirrors for non-towing driving. Maybe they could hinge the arm in the center so it can fold in next to the truck without moving the mirror to the rear or make the arm telescoping?
WanaDmxsub 04-05-2005, 01:21 AM Just incase anyone is interested...here is what I have found...

sprintmod1 04-06-2005, 08:52 AM JJ; the TTT's can be had for under $400 at driverfx; I think if you use the code "factory" when checking out, it subtracts an addtional 10%. A bunch of us have installed these mirrors and it is quite easy to do. Basically unbolt and bolt back on and then plug and play except for one wire for the running light option. Ski1 and I both wired that into the roof marker lamp wire on the passenger side fuse panel. Very, very simple install. After you get done installing those TTT's and you can sell the factory extending ones here or on ebay for about $300 and your net cost will be around $100 for awesome mirrors!! Got to tow the first time this weekend with them and they are worth every cent!
03 Radio Flyer 04-06-2005, 02:34 PM JJ,
The Radio Flyer's mirrors are 118" from outside L to outside R and I have no problem viewing what is going on behind, to the trailer's left and right, even with a 52' car-hauler.):h
To some, my mirrors are way too ugly, to me, I only see ugly when I'm looking at them in those big-a$$ mirrors. :muahaha:
Tag, U'r-it!

JJs DuMax 04-06-2005, 07:24 PM RF3, exactly what kind of freakin mirrors do you have? So far the TTT's and Vision View are top runners, leaning more towards the VV . JJ :)
03 Radio Flyer 04-06-2005, 10:41 PM JJ....they come with the GMC/Chevy MDTs. The only thing special ordered was power, heated, and lighted.
The beauty is, they stand above most people's heads, so no one bends them back on me in parking lots.
Time to be nice to Mrs. JJ, and do something realy nice for your anniversary this year...maybe, just maybe........
