: Change fuel filter message
Jayman 01-05-2009, 09:53 AM Howdy Folks,
Just about to 49,000 miles and I've got a change fuel filter message on DIC. My question is, is this a milelage trigger message or other?
I've had P1093 in the past and did not have a change fuel filter message. Truck is due for regular maint. at 50K and will get changed then, unless I get engine limp.
Thanks.
JC1843 01-05-2009, 10:15 AM The fuel filter change display is triggered by by miles-- there are no sensors that I know of, to trigger when it is time to change the filter.
It is important to change the filter on a regular schedule. If the filter gets plugged, the CP3 could suck dirt into the injection system, and cause lots of damage.
pasquale 01-05-2009, 10:17 AM its triggered every 15000 miles
Reineke 01-05-2009, 12:54 PM Yeah, no sensors... Mine doesn't even have the minder...
obhd1 01-06-2009, 06:28 PM mine hasnt been triggered yet but i kno i need to change my filter
randy_the_hack 01-06-2009, 10:05 PM mine hasnt been triggered yet but i kno i need to change my filter
Careful, not all trucks have this filter minder. Mine doesn't. You could be waiting on something that will never show up...
ironhorsect 01-06-2009, 10:09 PM Would this be an option in the DIC menu or something else? I saw the oil life one, but not the fuel filter one....

If it's there, yes.
JC1843 01-06-2009, 10:29 PM I think it was on 05 trucks and some had to be flashed to get the display.
My 04 does not have it!
ironhorsect 01-06-2009, 10:34 PM Not on my 05...Must need a flashin....I just keep writing on the filter with the Marks a lot
pc_renaud 01-06-2009, 10:51 PM my 05 does it at about every 10,000 miles.
kman04HD 01-07-2009, 01:46 PM my 04 doesnt seem to have it. i change the fuel filter every other oil change. roughly 10k miles
Jayman 01-08-2009, 10:06 AM Thanks guys.
I have never had the message before, owned the truck since 16K miles. Seemed odd. However I had a new ECM installed when one of the stealerships diagnosed my truck incorrrectly for a crank shaft sensor problem. It could explain why this is the 1st time I've seen the message.
REDGAR 04-24-2009, 05:06 PM so this thing came on why I was driving yesterday and has not come on since. I changed the filter a few thousand miles ago but it was odd that it went on then off and has not come back
chevman 04-24-2009, 10:24 PM We had the reflash in April 05 and the fuel filter came on after like above said. I just changed the fuel filter and have done so 6 times but one time it it was a mistake thinking it was the problem. we drive 6500 miles each year so every April the filter get replaced.Way too easy of a job not to keep it new. The dic showed 54%. I cut the filter to see the inside .
