zach45 01-05-2009, 12:03 AM what it you had a straight cut and a little higher?
duramaxxin73 01-05-2009, 01:16 AM It looks good. You should try a hush power muffler. I have one on my truck, and love it. No annoying drone, and cuts in cab noise down by alot
dieseldave01 01-05-2009, 08:55 AM looks good man...gotta love the 7 inchers
Papuller86 01-05-2009, 10:34 AM duramaxxin73 do u have a part number for the hushpower muffler by any chance, i looked last light b4 i posted but had no luck i was going to look again today on htere site all i can find is the regular mufflers or kits, thanks
Papuller86 01-05-2009, 10:50 AM nevermind found it
TIM Z 01-05-2009, 11:08 AM Damn it looks badd bro!
But im with ya on the drone, my "little" 5'' stack drones and is getting annoying .
I think you need to get it above the cab , it will help the drone, or a muffler if you want to keep it low.
I'm with ya on the damn diesel residue everywhere! But it wipes off.
Let us know if you do get a muff, i'd love to get rid of the drone but keep the a'' Angry" sound!
jonathancasey19 01-05-2009, 11:19 AM i'd be curious to hear what the hush muffler sounds vs. straight pipe like mine:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8StTnmMO2v0
if you get a chance to post a sound clip please do....
Papuller86 01-05-2009, 06:15 PM well i put the banks muffler back on the truck i can hear myself think now in the truck, it still sounds good OUTSIDE the truck, i looked into a flowmaster untill i saw that thay were 230 for 1 so like i said i just slaped the banks back on and it sounds good, i dont feel any difference power wise and if so i stand can loose 5hp to save my ears,
jonathancasey19 it was probly just a louder louder than that, i was going to get a sound clip but thay are calling for a pritty bad weather tomarrow for us and i have to do alot of driving so i quickly put the muffler back on.
when spring time rolles around i will get some better pictures with the wheels and tires and the 4 inch lift it will all come together then
duramaxxin73 01-07-2009, 02:54 PM I'll see what I can do about getting a sound clip, or video up with the hushpower on my truck.
volumejunkie 01-07-2009, 05:37 PM since you have 7 inches to play with(Ha Ha), why not try an internal muffler from a big-truck shop?
Duramax_JP 01-07-2009, 05:58 PM since you have 7 inches to play with(Ha Ha), why not try an internal muffler from a big-truck shop?
Haha :D, how much do the internal mufflers cost and how much do they help with drone while keeping the throaty sound?
TIM Z 01-07-2009, 06:03 PM I'll see what I can do about getting a sound clip, or video up with the hushpower on my truck.
I'd like to hear it.
smokinchevy 01-07-2009, 06:05 PM are stacks that much louder then out the back?
jonathancasey19 01-07-2009, 06:07 PM are stacks that much louder then out the back?
YES
especially with a new turbo
duramaxxin73 01-07-2009, 06:27 PM You can hear stacks in the cab more than you can a system out the back. And driving at 5 am in the morning when your still half asleep sucked, thats why I went with the hushpower to get rid of the annoying droan.
duramaxxin73 01-07-2009, 06:28 PM I'd like to hear it.
Its probably gonna be about another week. My truck is up at Danville Performance right now, but I'll get a video clip as soon as I get it back.
jonathancasey19 01-07-2009, 07:01 PM how exactly do you install those mufflers? Do they slip right down into it?
volumejunkie 01-07-2009, 09:02 PM http://www.chromeroomstore.com/servlet/the-internal-mufflers/Categories
I know grand rock sells them too. Maybe shoot them a call.

Cumminskiller04 01-07-2009, 09:59 PM YFZ450 that is bad. i seen an 8" on here somewhere and i love stupid loud. the cops made me put a muff on mine but thats what im running when i get the ticket signed off.... with 7" through the hood was legal.
duramaxxin73 01-07-2009, 10:40 PM Cool! what you gettin done?
I'm having Mark re-tune it.

As I promised here's a video of it idling with the hushpower muffler. I'll get one of me ripping into it on here later tonight sometime.
sleeperlbz 01-20-2009, 05:29 PM nice my dual sevens on my reg cab r nice . they do hurt on those hangover mornings...lol
Papuller86 01-20-2009, 06:17 PM cumminskiller thanks sofar evey one likes it, have gotten good coments from every one about it, i just cant wait till summer to see how it looks with the wheels and tires on the truck
TIM Z 01-21-2009, 05:44 PM http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo357/duramaxxin73/th_S4020206.jpg (http://s391.photobucket.com/albums/oo357/duramaxxin73/?action=view¤t=S4020206.flv)

sounds good man, throaty and deep. You sure theres a muffler on it ?
I would love to hear some sound clips of driving around.
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 01:58 AM I'll have a video of me ripping into here soon. I just need to find me a camera man. It was alot quieter until recently:eek: But before the muffler it was unbearable, it had an annoying drone, and alot of cab noise. Now no drone and hardly any cab noise. But yes there is a muffler on it:D I catch alot of hell for having a muffler on it.
MAXMSCL 01-22-2009, 11:48 AM o ya and it sucks cleaning the diesel fuel off the roof and windows
That looks really good, however your statement that I quoted above is the only thing holding me back from putting a stack on mine... :(
It looks good. You should try a hush power muffler. I have one on my truck, and love it. No annoying drone, and cuts in cab noise down by alot
Amen for the Hush Power, a buddy of mine has a 5.9L Cummins with turbo back exhaust and has the really annoying drone that is associated with it on the inline 6cyl. He installed a Hush Power resonantor behind the muffler and it knocked out all of the inside the cab drone however left the loud exhaust tone outside the truck which sounds good.
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 01:02 PM Yea when I first heard about the hush power I was alittle bit leary of it just because of the word Hush, but now that I have one on my truck I love it.
TIM Z 01-22-2009, 07:04 PM Im gonna have to get one of these. They make just a resonator that would do the trick?
I think a small bullet type resonator would be easier for me to install versus a standard muffler.
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 08:18 PM I don't know I think they make just a muffler, you may want to send Mark from Danville Performance a PM and ask him.
smokinchevy 01-22-2009, 08:42 PM maybe a flow master outlaw if you just want a little resonance gone? i dont know if they do much but theyr only $80 and they come in 4 and 5"
or maybe http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLK-17557&N=700+4294922711+4294922710+400358+4294908216+4294 907405+115&autoview=sku
or if your feelin cheap, cant beat a cherry bomb for $33.
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=IMM-87528&N=700+4294922711+4294922710+401524+4294788220+115&autoview=sku
all are pretty much just resonators.
Duramax_JP 01-22-2009, 08:46 PM JackTheBear just made a resonator thats modeled off of the hushpower. Its like 100 bucks. Im gonna test it for him next week before he releases it. Ill make some videos for yall and write a review.
Whitepower350ci 01-22-2009, 09:08 PM Hey how long are you guys ordering your stacks?? I ordered my 8" but I opted for the 36" length as opposed to the 42" or longer to save the 100 buck...
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 09:12 PM mine is 36" I didn't want it to stick way above the cab, I'd say mine sticks above the cab by about 2 to 3"
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 10:33 PM Here is a vid of me ripping into from inside the cab. Promise to get one from outside the cab this weekend. Sorry for having the camera down to the floor
http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo357/duramaxxin73/th_Rippingonitfrominsidethecab.jpg (http://s391.photobucket.com/albums/oo357/duramaxxin73/?action=view¤t=Rippingonitfrominsidethecab.flv)
duramaxxin73 01-22-2009, 11:37 PM Told you guys it was quiet in the cab, and no drone. The video is going from about 30 to 80mph. Thought I was gonna get pulled over for a second since it was in a 50mph zone in Indy went I took the video.
jonathancasey19 01-23-2009, 01:24 AM how exactly does this install? does it just slip down into the stack until it meets the t-pipe?
duramaxxin73 01-23-2009, 01:26 AM how exactly does this install? does it just
slip down into the stack until it meets the t-pipe?
No it replaces the muffler/muffler delete pipe that came with your system. Or you have to cut out a place for it.
7" looks good, like how its black...

carter_44 01-23-2009, 02:50 AM muffler or not...however it ends up...it looks awesome.
i have always wondered how you guys with stacks deal with rain and snow getting into your system.
duramaxxin73 01-23-2009, 11:52 AM muffler or not...however it ends up...it looks awesome.

When i had my 6" I had a hole drilled down at the elbow for the water to drain. I haven't done anything like that yet. I'm actually looking for a rain cap for it now.
jonathancasey19 01-23-2009, 12:30 PM There is no place for the muffler with stacks that's what I don't understand? It goes: down pipe, front pipe, extension pipe, flex pipe, 90 degree bend, t-pipe then stacks....
duramaxxin73 01-23-2009, 12:45 PM Your gonna have to cut out where the extension pipe is.
TIM Z 01-23-2009, 08:13 PM Told you guys it was quiet in the cab, and no drone. The video is going from about 30 to 80mph. Thought I was gonna get pulled over for a second since it was in a 50mph zone in Indy went I took the video.
A ton of thanks to you for your Time and vids Bro!!:cool::cool:
Sounds great!, im going to do this, i feel bad for my son who sits in the back and has to put up with drone while goig up hills. Sometimes i just man. down shift to stop the droning.

Its really no big deal, i dont worry at all, the soot washes right off most of the time. I used to worry about it, but its never been an issue.
smokinchevy 01-23-2009, 09:20 PM even my regular exhaust leaves soot all over the bumper, your gonna get it somewhere on your truck anyways.

Your welcome man:D. Sorry the video quality wasn't the best in the world. I was doing it off my digital camera. You'll love it after you put one on your truck. You should contact Mark from Danville about prices on them he has them for a good price
