i know that the pan gasket is leaking a bit. i have a new PML aluminum pan coming and new fluid. but it is hard to tell if there is more. on the driver's side is an electronic connection that attaches to the side just above the pan. it is all wet w/fluid. is there something in it that can leak fluid? otherwise it is all coming from the pan gasket.
also, i just put in my oil cooler kit. took out the front driveshaft to do, 3 days ago. now i try to put in and it's tight. every 4x4 i've seen has the sliding yoke at the differential end. the non-sliding end is too fat to fit next to the tranny. does the sliding end go to the transfer case? i see no other way.

The electrical connector has an O-ring seal. Drop the pan and disconnect the connector. You will see how the harness comes out from the inside.
The front drive shaft is going to be a tight fit. Perfect alignment and perfect angle. Patience is key. Bolt on to the front end and slide in to the transfer I believe. Since I am not at the truck someone else should be able to chime in.

If your case connector has a screw in the center it is the first style which were pron to leaking. The second style dosnt have the screw. it is changeable to the second style. You would need to change the harness inside at the same time.

96 has the new style connector. You will need to unbolt the crossmember and tranfer case mount and raise tranny to install pml trans pan. The pml trans.pan is a nice very heavy unit. The down side is that you have to raise the tranny to change filters.

On the new connector types just disconnect the connector. Drop the pan dissasemble the connector from the inside and replace the O-ring. You have no need to replace the wiring harness unless you are experincing electronic problems with the transmission.
