I was just curious what the largest weight you guys have ever hauled with your gas trucks. Even if you only pulled hay around in a field, what is the most you have ever hitched up to and pulled around?
My 1986 K10 305 Chevy 4 speed auto: 12000# on the road(tractor/trailer/loader/seed; biggest problem: brakes)
My 1979 K20 350 Chevy 4 speed auto: 29000# in the field (14 round hay bales on flat trailer, used 4 low)
2001 2500HD 4x4 Allison: 10000# on the road (trailer and split firewood, and cattle on a different occasion, 2Hi easy as pie)

I made the mistake of pulling a 6500# dump trailer with 12.5k# worth of drain rock. It actually did o.k. untill I started up the 1.5mile road to my house that is at about 14%+.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif I had to put it in 4lo to make it up the last steep part which caused the motor to overheat and the tranny light to come onhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/redface.gif

My wife wasn't very pleased as the truck is her baby.

Yeah, it was my buddy's trailer and he originally told me that it only weighed around 3500#, not 6500! I think you might get away with pulling 15K but it's definitely hard on the motorhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/badidea.gif.

I've had my set-up behind a few 6.0 before they built the dmax.
Between 14,000 and 15000# w/ trailer ,SSL,trencher,hoe,buckets and forks.
Pulled it up some decent hills but wouldn't want to try and pass someone like the dmax can.
Seems like get it up in the 5000+rpm it pulled decent.

Since this was a gasser ?, I will say that I've also pulled a little over 25,000# (400bu of beans and gravity wagon) w/ my old 6.5 diesel (less power than 6.0 or 8.1).
Needed 4wd to get it started on flat driveway, had to go about 2 miles.
