yeah im looking to buy a 94 chevy 3500 crew cab diesel dually with 111239 miles the exterior of the truck as well as the interior are excellent the truck is a conversion truck pacifica model when the guy started it, it was about 43 degrees out and took a couple of turns for it to fire up, i saw some white and blueish smoke, im wondering what steps can i take to make sure its a good buy? very soon im going to have it for the day and i want to know what i could do to see if its a good buy and im wondering what kind of mpg i would be getting without towing anything. the people on this forum are awesome, ive learned so much about chevy diesels its incredible o and the truck is a 2wd:help:

I bit of smoke on a cold startup is no big deal it's a product of incomplete combustion. Check through the FQ's and spend a bunch of time to read more of the posts and go from there. I like the '94 &95's because you can pull the DCT's (trouble codes) with only a paper clip. The truck is low miles get the VIN # and go to a GM dealler for history thats a start. 250-300,000+ miles from these engines are not too unusal. Parts for a GM 6.5TD are the most reasonalbe of the 3 Diesels.
MPG id guess about 15mpg for a crew cab dually.
