Hey guys! Yes, I have done lots of searching on here prior to this post! I'm trading in my '05 and was wondering what to do with my tire situation. The dealer agreed that they could swap my tires/ wheels with my '05. My 265 BFG's only have 9k on them. My current set up with 16x8's and 265's required me to cut some of the bottom corner bumper plastic. Are the wheel wells any different on the '08's, will I need any mods to fit 265's?? I really don't mind the polished aluminum wheels on the new stock truck and could also maybe just swap tires. Either way, the stock 245's will not be left on. I would prefer to not crank the torsions as I think this has led to some of the front end issues with my '05.
What mods are necessary to go to a 285 tire on the stock GMC wheel?? Would that 285 be too big/ wide for the stock wheel??
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

my dad just bought an 08' and his came with 265's and his would rub a little when he cut the wheel hard one way or the other, but they should fit with a little trimming. 285's will work fine on the stock rims im runnin 315's on the stock rims

I switched both '07.5 2500's to LT265/75R16 LrE tires. These trucks have the OEM PYO wheel, still. No interference or rub issues on either truck, stock, untouched, except one has an extra 1000lb in the bed (still no rub).

Well, had some rub issues with my 16x8/ 265 75 16 set-up. The outer part of the tread would rub on the back of the inner wheel well when the turning radius was maxed out. Local body shop did a little modification for a few bucks, now there is no rubbing and you can't tell anything was done there. Sure beats the heck out of keeping the stock 245's on there!:D

Your wheels are why you are having rubbing problems, 265's clear with no problems on the NBS trucks. What backspacing do your 16x8's have? I know that 265's on the stock wheels will clear with room to spare. You can clear 285's by simply tieing the inner liner back to the body mount.
I've got 265's on 17x8.5's with 5" of backspacing, take a look at my garage.
