: TSB Rear Suspension Question
wuncoolduramax 03-31-2005, 03:20 AM I stumbled across this TSB on another thread:
1. 03-03-09-002A APR 04 Suspension - Rear Leaf Spring Slap or Clunk Noise
Does anybody have any info or experience on this one? I have a 2004 LB7 EC SWB 2500HD with just over 15K on the odometer. It has just recently started making a clicking or slapping sound most noticeable over speed bumps. I would like to be armed with some info before I call the Stealer.
Thanks

yes my dealer put rubber caps on the ends of the bottom leaf and it fixed the problem.
acehi 03-31-2005, 09:26 AM Your plastic pads have worn out or broke off, as mine did. You can have the dealership fix it but I purchased the silencers for them. They look like large rubber O-rings that slip over the overloads. I think I purchased them through jpcustoms.com but not positive. They were only a few $'s.

dmaxlover 03-31-2005, 07:38 PM I had these put on under warranty at about 15k
wuncoolduramax 04-01-2005, 01:59 AM Thanks for all of your replies. This site is awesome :ro) ! My dealer is a 100 mile round trip so I decided just to go ahead and order the O-Ring insulators from GMDieselTech. I'm looking forward to a quiet ride.
Max Owner 04-03-2005, 11:25 PM How well do the o-rings last? I can see under load conditions (towing, load in bed) that they would wear through.
Any thoughts?
I have gone through 7-9 of the isolator pads, so far.
acehi 04-03-2005, 11:33 PM I have had these o-ring style silencers in my truck since October. I drove from Alaska to California with my 10 foot slide-in camper and a 15,000 lb trailer behind me, as my picture shows. And the 0-rings show no wear on them at all. I would imagine they would break off from dry-rot long before they are worn through. The 0-rings are about 1/2" thick rubber and work great.

Max Owner 04-06-2005, 09:57 PM Thanx Jeff. I have asked before and never have gotten an answer.
nassdmax 04-07-2005, 07:15 AM Got mine a while ago from Eric (dmaxallitech/www.gmdieseltech.com). Plenty of hard miles (35k+) and loads on my set and I just took them off to transfer to my new truck. Slightly flattened, but I found no cuts or major bruises, so onto the new truck they go. They really do work. Never heard the damn slap again. Well worth it!
My dealer put rubber caps on the ends of the bottom leaf on both of my trucks under warranty. The dealer also put the rubber O-rings between the overload springs on the 3500 and it fixed the spring slap problems I was having.
acehi 04-07-2005, 11:39 AM I just went through all my receipts and I found where I purchased mine. I did get them through gmdieseltech.com. The SKU # 363455. I also purchased my green keys, fumoto valve (well worth the money), and several filters from there as well. Jeff
_nar_ 04-08-2005, 09:19 PM My dad's truck started clunking from the springs about a 1000 miles back. 2004 lly with 10500 miles... The dealer said they couldn't find anything on it so they ordered some new springs that should be here tomorrow. Maybe I should show them this tsb.
acehi 04-08-2005, 09:23 PM If they are that far behind on what has been going on with these then I would just let them replace the springs and be happy. I am sure that once they send the old springs back to the manufacture under the warrenty they will be informed at that time and they won't make that mistake again. Just me. I play stupid to get things fixed and I continue to play stupid if they replace more then what is needed. :)
