My tranny hesitates (like loss of power) when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and then from 3rd to 4th. It then stays in 4th for a very short time before it shifts to 5th. If I accelerate slowly, I don't notice as much. I really notice it when I take an onramp onto the interstate. I do not tow anything. I have the hypertech on level 1, and am running 285's with the speedometer corrected with the hypertech. What do you think the problem is?

you have larger tires I assume with the lift. that will throw off the WSS signal which is what the trans relies on for upshifts, output shaft speed.

i'm have a similar problem, when i accelerate quickly it seems as though trans goes into neutral til I let up. And I also have 285's Trail cutters AT, dmaxallitech has a point. Hey dmaxallitech is there anything we can do besides buying new tires tel 9000 check my thread ( Is My tranny burnt) please let me know if it sounds like the same problem your having. Also do you have any up grades to motor.

tel9000 check your fuel filter, might be it, I changed mine, ANd let the tranny do a relearn, so far fixed problem. I believe my filter was clogged.

Hey Satanspimp, I don't think I am having quite the same issue. I get a hesitation between 2nd and 3rd and it shifts hard into 5th. I changed the Allison spin-on and it got quite a bit better, and I am in the process of changing my fuel filter (I do so every 15k miles). The service tech that put the last one one there must have had bigger muscles and better tools because I can't break it loose. Thanks.

The first thing I would do is disconnect the program and drive it for a few days and see if there is a change. You could be experiencing defuel from the stock computer and the programer. The TCM ( trans control module ) could also be detecting slippage in the Ally that you might not be feeling which will cause a defuel. This is called torque management which is there to protect drivetrain. I don't know if you have any trans mods, but having them installed will greatly decrease the defuel because the TCM will not be sensing slippage.

Thanks Mike, great information. I should have said in my last post, but I did take off the power program and just used the Hypertech to adjust my speedometer. The tranny shifting problem is still there, but far, far less noticable. I am also probably still in Learn mode so it will get better. If only I could get that damn fuel filter off......
