No, I'm not getting 20 mpg, but I'm wondering what's the best mileage anyone is getting. In our sub, we get 13-14 around town. Anybody doing much better?

Around 16 avg. in town and 20.5 on a trip a few years back. The one I like to tell the gas engine people about is tewksbury mass. to nova scotia, eight people in the truck, loaded with gear and two jetskis and all the junk being towed at 80 mph with the air on. 18.5 mpg

All you guys - and gals - that have not, need to list series - C or K, 1500, 2500 LD or HD, body configuration - Sub, Tahoe, X-cab, Crew cab, etc, final drive ratio, and tire size - 15" or 16", aspect ratio, etc - to make semi-accurate comparo

Otherwise - you're comparing tangerines to oranges to grapefruit - all citric, but a world of difference between.

Then, you've got driver habit, loading, location, terrain, area of country, fuel quality, altitude, air filter condition, lo\hi Boost, ambient temps, improvements - etc, and etc.

Well I get 14mpg around town currently no matter what. Towing 9000# I get 9mpg. I made some chances and in another week when I need to refill I have an idea if it made a difference.

Okay to try and keep our old friend happy here GMCTD.

I have 1995 C-2500 LD extanded cab, automatic, with 245-7516E tires running 45 psi. I changed the gearing from 3.73 to 3.42, put a 3inch mandrel aftermarket exhaust, Maxitorqu 2.0 AFE air filter, ect , ect. I drive in the west 1/3 of the united states, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, mostly. Before regearing, my best tank ever was 23.5 on about 55 degree day at elevations from 3,000 to 7,000ft ASL on straight #2 with aditive. I as crusing from southern Utah down Northern Arizona along the Grand canyon. Speed limit was 55mph then on 2 lane roads through Indian Reservations, I set the cruise at 55 and left there results 23.5 mpg. I have since gotten 21.5-22 several times at 65 mph cruise. I put an topper on the truck and it doesn't fit the lines as well as I'd like I feel it costs me about 1/2 mpg. With improvments and topper I cruise @ 75mph solo with 2 bird dogs, 3-4 shotguns, cooler, 20 boxes of shotguns shells, and other gear and get 19.5-20.2 mpg regular. Towing camper trailers back from Arizona to Montana 1300 mile aprox. I have gotten anywhere from 10 mpg pushing hard to 14.5 mpg at 65 mph cruise. Trailers have been anywhere from 27 foot to 22 foot. I travel 12 miles one way from my Ranchette to the office in the morning. 3 miles gravel rest 2 lane country roads until town about 3 miles town driving. I haul a 3/4 ton pickup box trailer with 450 gallon water tank about 3 times a week on average with water 10 mile loaded back home. I get 15-17 mpg on that type, down around 13-14 on winter blend or if I haul more water, up 17.5 if I run straight #2 with power service and not hauling water and keep my foot out of it. Sorry for the long winded but ya got to keep these old guys happy!

Okay to try and keep our old friend happy here GMCTD.

Speed limit was 55mph through VA country roads, I set the cruise at 55 and left there results 22.5 mpg. I have since gotten 21.5-22 several times at 60 mph cruise. . I get 15-17 mpg on that type, down around 13-14 heavy towing 5-18K loaded GN equipment trailer 16 +/- 1 mpg is my general avg with my driving profile
16 ga I borrowed/edited some of your thread I thought my best ever was a mis-calculation on my part; looks like I'm not that far off from you, I hit 22 mpg sometimes as well, but can only get that in 55mph cruise control mode, something wrong with my truck though it just does not like 55-65 mph on the hiway, it runs too slow there:D

I got 23 on one tank, mind you I was driving a constant 50-55mph so it was pretty damn slow. Normally driving 65-70 mph I get 18mpg. Anything over 70 and my mpg goes into the toilet!-:t

Best tank has been 17.5 running empty @ 55- 60 with B2 biodiesel in the tank.

Just got back from a road trip running 2300-2400 rpm (74 - 76 mph gps speed, speedo is off with the 285's) for 300 miles, truck stop fuel, 2 adults, 2 kids and our "junk" and got 15.

I have a 95 z71, completely unmodified with about 145,000miles on the truck, approx 20,000 on a rebuilt engine. I get 18-19mpg (US gallons) very consistently with about 3/4 of my mileage on highway. I run the engine at about 2000rpm or slightly higher (65mph) to prevent speeding tickets!

I'd love to get more, but it seems reading here that most people get this or less... I have talked to many up here in BC that say they get 22-23mpg (US gallons).

workin on it.

I get ~15 mpg but I weigh 9400 lbs dry and I like to keep the throttle to the floorboard.

On Edit:
I'm driving 100 miles highway today, I'll keep up with milage to determine if the Ic is an improvement in efficiency.

My truck is a 98 k2500 ext. cab, long bed,5-speed.4.10,245/75 16s. If I keep to the 2 lanes and about 60 mph I get 18.5-19 mpg. Recently blasting home from Florida up I-77 with two bikes in the bed at 70-75 mph mpg dropped to 16.5.It seems rpm is the economy killer. I would like to see 1700 rpm at 70 mph. Gear Vendors overdrive would be the ultimate solution. Next set of tires will be 235/85-16 for added height.

Just put 20 gallons in on 320 miles of 98% highway (75-80) mph driving. (2500-2800 RPM's) works out to about 16 MPG. That not the worst of it, cost me $47.00 was the painful part, but at least cheaper than the 5.80 a gallon I saw in turkey last month
