has any of you ever got a defective part from ebay and the seller will NOT call you back about the problem? meaning the seller "ryang.g.1974" ???

not to get on here and cry about it but i bought my 80HP chip from "ryang.g.1974" on ebay when i was putting my rig together last month. when i installed it i was very impressed, and wow, what a difference....the only problem it would NOT shift out of first gear. everything else seemed to be fine, and even checked out fine when hooked to the computer at our local GM dealer....just no shifting out of first gear!

i called Ryan and mentioned the problem. when i got back from Fla about a month ago i was to send it in for an exchange. he thought it was programed wrong (obvisouly!) Ryan was very helpful and willing to make it right on the spot, so i thought!

well now that i am getting the time to fix it, and get back ahold of Ryan, i am NOT getting any phone calls back after 5 messages, and after about 5 emails with FULL detail of the problem, i get only a single email from him saying "i wondered who called my house" (the phone # was from bidder contact on ebay) he then asked in the email "tell me whats wrong and reply to my email" ....like i have not done that already! i have been trying for about a solid week to get any reply that is helpful, no luck at all.

back to the question, has anyone else had any problems with this fella?

Looks like he has a good track record. Suggest sending the chip back and asking for another one. Send it with a letter explaining all the details. It's not doing you any good now anyway, so you have nothing to loose. I often wonder what people think when they buy high dollar electronics off ebay. If you have a problem how can you get it fixed? Most cases mfg. is not going to warranty it to a second party, the seller can't fix it, and if I was the seller, how would I know if was like that when I sold it, or did the buyer screw it up? We learn the hard way. I bought a generator new in the box from a friend in an emergency. Generator fried after 30 minutes. Out of warranty and friend to good a friend to make him take it back.

Not to be an a$$, but I bet it was cheaper from an ebay whore huh?

I would try and put the truck back to stock and make sure the problem is the chip. After that, if he wont call you back, your likely SOL.

I bought a MaxiTorq from Heath, when I got it all set up my EGT's were running high and I wasn't sure the chip was right. I called Bill he told me to increase the boost with the Turbo Mater which was I had installed I cranked up the boost and temps did go down , he sent me a replacement and had me return the orginal just to make sure I had a unit that worked properly. Then when his 2.0 version came out Heath upgraded me to it for about 20% the cost of new Chip. This is the kind of service a quality vendor gives and among the reasons I speak so highly of Heath Diesel. So you can keep your E-bay suppliers, you pay a bit more for service and I think it worth it. Unless it's the A-1 steak Sauce then you pay more for no phone, no return, no backing!

Trying to stay on the same subject....What is the difference between a PCM upgrade compared to a Max e tork....Do they do the same things or are they totally seperate monsters... I'm stuck between the SS performance upgrade or the Heath upgrade..

yea, great track record, and if i had an address i would send it back. again the problem is no response.

i make a living off of ebay so i know how important to keep in contact with customers. i know jumping to neg feedback is a last resort.

since i was on a diesel site here i just thought i would ask. thanks guys!

2000 6.5 SLE,

Bill Heath's product is called Max-e-Tork, and it's a chip that piggybacks the engine computer for the older trucks and a reprogrammed (entire) computer for the newer ones ('96 - up). Same effect, just different ways to address different technological generations.

:ro)
As far as the difference between computer reprogram and chip replacement is that they do the same things just differently. kind of like upgrading you computer or buying a new one.

thanks Bowtie.

i finally got a call from this fella and he offered a 100% money back including shipping, or i send it out to get re-programed. i opted for the re-programing! i hope it all works out well in the end.
