: Prices of Install
CHOPJAW 03-30-2005, 10:23 PM I got a quote 2 days ago about putting in the Banks (without Cat) exhaust and AFE intake and Edge w/***. They are going to take the old Cat off of the stock and put it onto the new Banks system and run the whole exhaust from the turbo back. The cost of all of this (Edge/Banks/AFE) is $2650.00 OTD. Do you all think that's a good deal or what??
Comments??
05LLY2500HD 03-30-2005, 10:32 PM That is too much money.
You can save ALOT of money. Install of Edge/Attitude is simple, very simple. 20 minutes. intake, isn't that hard. Exhaust is really nothing, unless you want it welded, I just clamped mine.
More like $1500 plus install. Save a grand.
ONLY IMO.

Did you clamp the CAT onto the Banks?? How did you get it to fit. 3" to a 4"??

Way too much money!! Check the vendors prices for the same items here on this forum. Then install them all yourself. Like 05LLY2500HD said, it is a simple install.
05LLY2500HD 03-30-2005, 10:54 PM I bought the MBRP 4" with catLESS pipe, muffler, AND muffler delete pipe. With the help of Eric and Mike, was installed in minutes.

05LLY2500HD 03-30-2005, 10:58 PM ok, gotcha
MrsSpoolin 03-30-2005, 11:02 PM We spent ~$1500 to have the Monster shipped express (3-4 days to Alaska) and installed here. It was cheaper to have it shipped to on offroad place than to our house.
briano 03-30-2005, 11:11 PM just have someone weld the front pipe with cat, 50 bucks at most?
Then do 99% of the rest by yourself and never break a sweat. AFE intake and Edge will take about 30 minutes at the most with common hand tools. The attitude maybe 10 more minutes running the cable and installing the mount.
is this what shops are charging to install this stuff? my goodness, I am in the wrong business.
good luck
rolloffhill 03-30-2005, 11:21 PM Drive to Texas and I'll only take half the money they quoted you!!):h Did all mine myself FREE!! If your not mechanically inclined find a friend that is. If you can follow directions and have basic tools YOU CAN DO IT!:thumb:
dieselmaniac 03-30-2005, 11:34 PM One thing though is make sure to not get any metal chips in the exhaust manifold when you tap it for the thermocouple or probe, whatever you want to call it. They will mess that turbo up quick. If you want take the manifold over and do it which is the safest but i have done several by taking some precautions. Use a sharp drill bit and a good tap. Go slow and use plenty of grease on the bit to collect the chips and pull it out often. also have a magnet, one of the skinny ones for getting bolts. just take your time and it will be easy. also screw that Cat, i through mine away and went right through emissions in new jersey
CHOPJAW 03-31-2005, 01:16 AM screw that Cat, i through mine away and went right through emissions in new jerseyI wish it was that easy. Here in Vegas they do a Visual Inspection of the CAT. If it does not match what the Vin tell them, you fail... Also there is only 2 places here in Vegas that does SMOG check on a Diesel. Those guys are serious... So YEA, we gotta have it.!!!
I might just call around tomorrow to see who would weld this up for me. My only concern is the 3" to the 4". Do you pound out the end's?? or do you make a piece that works between them????
LBZ DMAX 03-31-2005, 01:49 AM why don't you install the front pipe w/cat around emissions time and drive w/o cat the other times? ):h
akdiesel 03-31-2005, 02:10 AM You just got a lot of replies to just do the install your self. I will also agree with them.
The Edge with Attitude roughly $800.
Stainless exhuast roughly $700
FIPK intake system roughly $250
that comes out to about $1750 not including shipping. But I am sure there are a lot of shops in your area that should carry all of these items. But there are alot of venders on this site that can help you out very well if you use them.
Take a day to knock all of these items out. It will give you a great chance to get under your truck and see just what you have under there. As well as grease all the fittings if it has not been done yet.
The exhaust should take you about two hours to remove and install. Cut the old one in half and when installing the new one use stainless exhaust band clamps for the install. A much better seal, they look a lost better, and they will not deform the pipe.
The Edge may take about two hours depending on how annul you are about hiding your wires and keeping it clean.
The intake should take about 30 minutes.
Good luck and takle the job your self.

the 3" to 4" is at the 4bolt flange, new pipe will just bolt right up. at least it does with a MBRP.:ro)
rolloffhill 03-31-2005, 09:06 AM Go to a muffler shop they can expand a pipe to make a 3-4" adaptor.
CHOPJAW 03-31-2005, 09:27 AM I will have to take a look around and talk to some shops about welding the CAT on for me.
