i put a 6.5 turbo on my 6.2. and my question is what to do with my pcv, or ive heared it called a crankcase decompression valve. i would run the valve how the 6.5's are where the valve body mounts on top of the valve cover. but instead of it being on the valve cover, can i run the pcv through the front of the motor on the oil spout like the stock 6.2 is already. the reason i ask this is because i just painted the motor, sealed the valve covers, and found out how the 6.5 turbo pcv was routed. and i would have to go and hunt down a valve cover, paint and re seal.

you could use the 6.2 CDR valve (crankcase depression regulator I think) setup just put it into the intake pre-turbo. When i put the turbo on my 6.2 i had a complete 6.5 motor and i just used the valve cover and CDR off of it

the turbo has a different pressure for the cdr, you probrably can use the 6.2 cdr but it might start leaking oil on ya somewhere.

Im using mine ( 93 cdr off a 6.5 td ) in the 6.2 spot and into a custom air intake before the turbo. If you look at the 6.2 and 6.5 cdr they are made to mount in different orientation, keep the label "this side up" respective to which one u use.

ha, i thought that might have been you from the first post mike. this is cam with the 6.2 m715.

ok so ill use the cdr from the 6.5 and mount it so it can suck from the front of the motor. instead of the valve cover. if i had a valve cover i wouldnt go through this. i also had to flip my air cleaner hose around to reach my filter. i am thinking about getting a filter and do it the same way you did mike. but i was trying to get it to look close to stock

yeah it's me. I just used a piece of 3in exhaust pipe and one of those coupler's you can get from autozone. Then i welded a bung into the pipe and ran the hose.

is that 6.5 a manual or an auto trans? How's the body?

what i am doing is running the vent hose from the oil filler tube down the block to the ground .i dont need the problems that a plugged cdr can cause like bad oil leaks.i will run the road draft tube like the cummins and save my seals

ok. that was my original idea. ive drivin alot of tractors, and i notice that they have a open vent, but i was told that i can blow seals if i dont use the cdr. but if your doing it like that then heck i will too. make it much easier.

the body on my jeep is ok i guess. the way its painted looks crappy. but my paint should have been in yesterday. so as soon as its painted ill post up a pic. and my 6.2 is in front of a sm465 with a np205

the cdr is good i guess but if it clogs up before you know it you got leaks

the biggest problem with an open vent...is if any ministry or department of transportation guys ever pull you over and look under the hood...open breathers are illegal modifications to the emissions system. big ticket, and they will search the rest of the vehicle for issues...they may even consider that in itself a major issue and thus impound the vehicle....for the price of a CDR...it's not worth it

i dont have those issues here in utah i should have said to check your local laws before you do any mods sorry but if you can do it then go for it

ok. hopefully i wont have a problem. the truck will most likley be licenced in oregon. and where we are in oregon they dont even smog. my 94 silverado hasnt been smoged in i think 6 years now. hopefully they wont give me a big problem.

can i see some pics of the way you ran your vent please?

is your parts truck a manual or auto?

I really wouldn't run without the CDR. Doesn't it create a slight
vacuum in the crank case to prevent oil leaks?

mine is just a 1 inch hose ran down past the old fuel pump boss to the ground

i drove my truck without a cdr to the dealership (20 miles) to get a my new one. the whole time i was driving i could smell oil burning. I put the cdr on in the parking lot and had to put a quart of oil in it. It was full when i left my house. I wouldn't recomend running without a cdr nobody i've talked to has either.
