With all of the talk about getting LBZ mp's and Kodiak mp's on here lately, my question is this: Why would I want to block my resonator? Also, is this the same as blocking the EGR? Sorry, not very savvy when it comes to all of this stuff.

I have mine blocked and didn't notice any difference. No they are not the same thing. The resonator is the 2' hole under the black plastic thingy that says 6.6, and blocking the egr is to the left of that.
Do a search on both and you will find pics to help you along. I would search pcv reroute too.

Blocking the resonator, from my understanding, just gives you more intake noise, but don't listen to me, cause I may not know but I'm sure thats all it does.

OK - here's the deal:
These things are known to split on their seams and leak unfiltered air (under-the-hood unfiltered air, for that matter) straight into your very expensive and very finicky engine., well :eek:, no...:eek::eek:
If you do a turbo mp mod and you choose to use the Kodiak mp (like mine), there is no port for the resonator; only a PCV port (which is blocked/rerouted on my truck... ;))
If you do a turbo mp mod and you choose one of the other solutions (LBZ mp or KillerBee's induction kit), there's a resonator port. You should block it.This has nothing to do with performance gains. It might increase the throaty noise the engine makes, but it's not much... just noticeable. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, you probably won't be able to hear any difference. FWIW, I heard a difference when my exhaust was stock, though not much. The rationale here is not for performance, it's for problem prevention. Yours isn't split? Great! Is it worth $3 to ensure you still have highly filtered air even if/when it does split? That's why you block it. Nothing else.

I blocked mine when TheBack posted he had a crack in his that was allowing some bad stuff to get into the engine. I got my 2 inch plumbers plug from Lowes.

Anybody used a plastic test plug with success?

I had one... but then changed to a metal plug 'cause I was paranoid. Think about it this way - the housing it sits in is plastic (not a lot of heat transfer) and it's internally cooled by the air rushing through the intake. A plastic plug is probably just fine.

I was thinking the same thing....But, I may hold out for the metal one....

i went with a 2" rubber cap (not the test plug) i found at lowes in the plumbing section for about $3.50 and used one of the factory hose clamps to hold it in place. i left the resonator (6.6 plastic box) off the engine. so far so good.

I did until I installed the kodiak mouthpiece.
