packfan 03-30-2005, 08:09 PM I just changed my rear diff oil and put in 4 qts of Mobil 1. I recently heard to use only 3 qts, which puts the oil level 1.5 inches below the fill hole. There has been a lot of discussion/confusion about this, but I remember DmaxAlliTech posting a while back to go ahead and fill it up to the bottom of the fill hole regardless. Oilbrnr 03-31-2005, 11:42 AM IIRC, spectulation was that GM lowered the fill level due to oil seal leaks, i.e. they wanted to reduce warranty $$$. Is it better to fill to the threads?
