So i just found a 94 yukon 6.5TD that has been sitting for a while and the guy just wants to get rid of it. Its a real good price so im going to pick it up tomorrow. When i went to check it out, it cranked right over after being on the charger for a little while. Well it wont run unless you hold the pedal down a little bit and as soon as you let off it dies. My 90 suburban with the 6.2 did this if i didnt change the filter. Will the 6.5 do the same thing with a dirty filter? Ill try a filter when i get it to my house but it is real cold here and dont want to do much more than that. Any other thoughts?

A few of my work trucks had gel problems. Had to replace the fuel heater on 1 conditioner in both and warm them up now they are fine. How long has it been parked? And is it summer or winter fuel in it? I would use a fuel conditioner and tarp a big heater to warm the whole thing. Tring to warm the tank.

Not sure how long its been sitting. The guy said it was fine when the got it and they drove it around the lot (its at a real small dealership) then it just stopped working. These guys dont know anything about diesels and actually hate them so they dont really know what happened. If i had to guess it probably has summer diesel in it and has a little under a half tank. I cant imagine that much fuel gelling tho. Ill try some fuel treatment once i get it here. Could it be the OPS? I cant imagine it being the PMD. The symptoms just dont seem like it.

I have one of these trucks as my own and work had 1. Mine drove fine with a dead lift pump till you would try to kisk it in the ass. The one at work would not run when the lift pump failed. One of the other work trucks is a ford when its fuel gelled it idled for hours. but didnt have enough power to drive it. warmed that one and fuel conditioner and all is fine.

The lift pump was my next guess. This thing does have 305,000 on it so im sure it could use a lift pump anyways. The engine most likely needs plenty of tlc. I might just have it towed to the local diesel shop so i dont have to work on it in the cold. Also i dont really have a way to warm it up since my garage is occupied with my other project.

diffrent thoughts on ways to heat it up. a turbo heater and some tarps, or a magnet oil apn heater stuck to the fuel tank

Ill try that. Im just not so sure that gelled fuel is the problem. Guess ill find out as soon as i get it here.
