I just bought a used 03 Silverado and am getting familiar with the D-Max engine.
I am having trouble getting accurate oil level readings. I think there is some sort of capillary action sucking the oil level up the dip stick on the side where there are the notches and the add and full markings. Are there any tricks like looking at the back or side of it? It appears that the level is too high. There is oil all the way up to the cable and the truck is on level ground. Thanks.

Same problem here. I pull the dipstick and wait five minutes. When I recheck it it reads a lot better. Still a pain in the a--. So anyone solve this problem? I know it is not overfilled or fuel diluted because I never get more than 9 or so quarts out and it happens right after an oil change also.
