Whats up guys
new to the Diesel Place and looking forward to it. I have owned a 3500 savana for about a year now and i love it, she is my work and play vehicle. I want to make some modifications to increase overall performance where should i start, and what type of gains could i reasonably expect. thanks

If you do a search under the vans section you will find lots of great info. Then you can ask away with specific questions and we will do our best to answer and help you.

It seems like an intake and exhaust change would be a good first step, i assume if you change one you have to change the other. would a 4" cat-back exhaust make a noticeable differance? Im impressed with some of the mpg's you guys get, im between 15-18 w/ tools and three track racks, would love 20 though.

If I am not mistaken you have a DPF. Which if that is the case you may want to start with a cat back system. There is no air intake systems made for the van. AFE makes a drop in filter but that is it.

My van was manufactured 10/06, but i purchased it as an 07 from the dealer. I dont believe it has the DPF because it doesn't do the regen thing. Thanks for bringing that up SS would my van technically be an 06 or 07.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Which tailpipe do you have ? The goofy one like the trucks have or just a regular tailpipe ?

Very good. Then I would say go with a 4" turbo back exhaust. Remember you have to buy one for a truck and it takes a lil work to make it fit but not bad. You should see 1 mpg plus increase.

Are you sure you have an 07 LLY?

Ok, so not having a DPF allows me to run new exhaust all the way to the turbo, will eliminating the cat cause any inspection issues ? I saw how you had to dimple the pipe, looks like a fun project though.

I am not sure what the regulations are for your state. I can do whatever I want in Montana.

Thats what im a little confused about my build summary document is dated 10/30/06 and my engine model year says 06. But they would begin to manufacture 07's at the end of 06 right? Dealer said 07 and so does the owners manuel. Is the only differance between the two years the DPF?

Yea i think mass regs would be strict with something like that, need a buddy at a garage.

If your registration says 2006 its an lly or lbz. if your registration says 07 its an lbz or lmm. Do a search, there is a digit in your vin that tells the diference.

Start with the exhaust. I have read on here the PPE tuner will work on the low setting with good results, so with the duramaximizer. Then there is EFI live.
Before doing to much power maybe a trans go kit is in order.

I did a bully dog tripple dog on an 06 with everything stock and it was a world of differance.

with programmers in general can you get more power and better mpg's, or is it a one or the other.

Personaly I would only go with EFI live. You will get more power and mpg depending on level of power.
