Twice I have shut the truck off and restarted within about 10 minutes and cruise control was not operational(no dash board light, doesn't engage). Pulled over and turned truck on and off a couple times and it starts working again???
This has happened twice in the last month. Have possibly turned ignition before the glow plug light went out(its a diesel). That is all I can think of that I did different. Anyone had this happen?

This seems to be an intermittent problem with GM Duramax's. Pushing the brake and releasing it seems to work for some. Give it a try.

Yeah my cruise has pulled this little stunt three times on my truck. Stopping and restarting brought the cruise back to life. According to a friend of mine who works for the local chevy dealer this occurs through out the chevy line.

I have had several problems in the past, "Check brakes", "Check 4x4", Cruise control, etc.
If I turn the key on and let the dash "Bulb check" finish, even with the "Glow Plug" logo still on, I have no problems. I also turn off the DSL's (sorry Canada), reduces battery draw.
All of the computers have a "Hand Shakeing" routine they go through when first powered up and if the engine starts before they finish the routine, they abort/branch in mid stride and send out bogus faults. Just my .02. :)
