Hey Everyone,

So these stock Bridgestone Duravis are just absolute crap in any kinda of deep snow and esp on ice, I can't even move the truck unless its in 4X4, and with the constant warm up cool down cycles this winter, the frozen hard packed snow, and sheer ice is just plain scary with these things.

Not to mention, past -12'c they seem to freeze into solid blocks of rubber and just bang and ride rough over washboard like packed snow, railroad tracks, and pot hole roads.

Anyway, after having my truck all checked out and the alignment ajusted, I talked with the local tire guys for a good while about the best E load range option for winter, and after much going back and forth, the Nitto Terra Grappler seems to be the answer, the only question is, which is better for Winter? the 265/75/16 or the 285/75/16 on the stock 3500 steel wheels.

Truck is used mostly on the highway and in the city during the winter, looking for best ride, and traction on snow and ice, milage not as important. Mods to truck in sig and garage. Im also going to be running a PPE standard on level 1 in the winter to correct speedo and see if I can make it drive better (lagg sucks).

Thanks.

Less width(265) is better in the snow, but the 285's look much better and do just fine in the snow. Also, I would go with the Toyo Open Country A/T, its a better tire than the Nitto and you can get them in either of the sizes you are looking at.

I agree the Duravis scare the shyt out of me also. Mine are just like you described. I'm looking hard at the Michelin LTX A2 and the Nitto Grapplers

I've used 285 BFGs and currently have 265 TG's for the winter and they both work equally well, IMO. 265s look small on the truck though.

Im running the 285's right now, and are doing way better than my 265 bfg all-terrains did last winter. Yes, they are slightly wider since i went with a wider rim, but the narrow tire digging to the pavement isn't lost by running the 285.

I really wanna run a set of 285's but I think im gunna have to run 265's since i will have a plow on the truck.

Check out the Cooper snow tires. They are great in snow!
