So i just got the call i have been dreading for the last few months.

They say they are not going to warranty them, because they flashed the ECU, and the ECU says its running lean. The service guy says that if the ECU says that, they won't warranty it, because they are worn out from normal wear and tear, so not covered.

It smokes at idle, is hard to start, and my engine oil level has gone up a bit and smells like diesel, and some times i have to prime the pump on top of fuel filter to get it to fire. All of this i told the guy when i dropped it off.

I have 150k on it, and i still have 6 months to go before this special warranty is out.

I told him to get me the balance rates, and he says the "tech 2" system doesn't tell them that.

So they want $4800 to fix this shit.

Any help will be appreciated. I have scanned over the special warranty bulliten, and i would assume i am covered. Should i fax this to the service guy??

Do any GM techs on here really know what they are actually supposed to check for?? So i can make sure they do.

This dealership was recommended to me from another guy on here (Van Chevrolet in Scottsdale AZ), so i figured i wouldn't have any issues.

Well the only other thing you could do is take em to court. Thats a long drone out process. Been there and done that. It took lil over 4 years to get money out of Ford. I dont know it ya have read this thread (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=244397), but this guy had an engine failure due to a bad piston. But why was the ECM saying it was running lean? Did you still have your tuner on there? But I wouldnt pay them that kinda of money to replace the injectors. I actually refuse to pay a dealership to work on any of my vechiles. I dont trust them. Id do it myself or take to someone that has a good reputation.

Try different dealers to you find one to work with you.

Take it somewhere else. Do not let them do it.

i took off the tuner, and set it back to stock.. but they know it had a tuner on it at some point.. so don't use a tuner if you ever want to have any warranty work done!

I am working with a local diesel specialty shop that deals with this dealership all the time, so they are trying to help me out.

The whole reason i bought this damn truck was to avoid big time $$ repair bills when it gets over 100k miles.. pretty sad, no wonder why GM is hurting big time.. also gotta love the shitty transfer case as well.

As far as with the LB7 there is no way for them the ECM to tell them you have had a tuner, if I recall right. They would have to look at the top of the pistons. Just go by the three rules of lying to the dealer DENY, DENY, DENY.:D I will not buy a extended warrenty cause most of the time I will screw my warrenty chance way before the stock one runs out.

i just talked to the tech dude.. he said that if there was a tuner (i didn't say either way) that they can find out by looking into the history of the engine control module, then GM will deny it. They will also deny it because of a K&N intake kit, and aftermarket exhaust. If a GM rep sees that stuff under the hood, they will deny all warranty stuff.. so whatever. i think this tech guy isn't sure what is really going on. Nate from strictly diesel is talking with the service manager that he normally deals with (and does these all the time) to see if they did the tests correctly.

They didn't tell me anything about the fuel return rates.. just mentioned balance rates, and fuel pressure loss... and the TSB says that they need to test the fuel return rates to make a decision.

keep ur fingers crossed.. cause i am not shelling out $5500 to repair them.

Only trucks that leaves a finger print is our LMMs. I thinks he is trying to get you to admit to running a tuner.

they can get the balance rates.. said they were at 3.8 or something.. what ever that means.

also, i believe they can find out if it has a tuner, but they have to send the computer to detroit or something.. but who knows.. its all bs when dealing with most stealerships anyways..

i will get it taken care of one way or another.

Nate from Strictly Diesel has been a tremendous help thus far. Thanks again for the suggestions guys.

Sure would be nice to hear a good story about a dealer once in a while!! Seems like 1 outa ten actually takes care of the customers lately. Mine just boned me today, I miss my Dodge service dept, they at least wanted the warranty work, and were cool about it.

Good luck man, don't let them screw you, they can only get away with what you let em. Tell them they will be on every consumer report website you can post on until you typin fingers bleed!! I saw a guy out in front of one of our local dealers with a sign a couple years back saying how he got burned. Only saw him one day, I am guessing they settled out with that guy real fast lol.

most people dont like to talk about good experiences, there are a few here. but people love to talk about bad experiences. just like the stupid csi surveys that customers fill out after a warr repair. if they mark satisfied and not completly satisfied that is a failing mark for the dealer. and csi drops. even though the customer may actually be happy with it.

Well.. I have some Great news!! after me telling them that i am just going to pick it up, and Nate having some influence with another service advisor, the original tech didn't do the correct tests. They called me back, and said they had one more test to do (didn't mention what it was) and it failed that test, so they are going to replace all of them under warranty!!!

Its a good thing i didn't just bend over. So for sure, don't take no for an answer!

Thanks guys,

Greg
