Shasta 12-29-2008, 11:07 PM Paintless dent repair?
Someone good at it can do amazing things.
Black Reaper 08 12-29-2008, 11:10 PM do u mean get sumone to take the dent out and leave the paint as is? thanks for the suggestion
Shasta 12-29-2008, 11:35 PM I have had a couple of things repaired that way with good luck. Someone "pushed" on the rear quarter of my '98 Z-28 hard enough to leave a palm sized dent. Repaired 8+ years ago and no issues with paint cracking or anything else. Guy took it out with no ripple whatsoever.
My neighbors truck got seriously nailed by hail last summer - hundreds of dents. Repaired with paintless dent removal, and you honestly can't see any of them. Insurance company gave him a rebate for repairing it that way since it was so much cheaper than panel replacement + paint.
I would check around for a good one and see what they say about fixing yours.
Dieseldad97 12-29-2008, 11:40 PM Great idea Shasta.
A buddy of mine had some serious hail dents on a black chevy, and the local dent guy did amazing work. I would never had believed it if I didn't see it.
Darius6t9 12-30-2008, 01:11 AM it's amazing what a heat gun and dry ice will do.
Sorry to hear about the truck. Hate kids like that. Had a window get shattered once by some kids throwing rocks at cars on the highway. Never found them and it cost about $350 to replace. Filed report with the police and everything. Nuttin' came of it though. You would think they would do something since it put a couple of children in danger. Hope it all works out for ya.
joeburnside 12-30-2008, 10:58 PM Do a search for dry ice dent repair and see if you can fix it yourself.
Rosey 12-31-2008, 04:48 AM "Paintless" dent repair will works if there aren't any deep scratches so unless you can live with just touching up the scratch left in the paint after they "pop" the dent out, I'd find someone who does QUALITY paint/ body work and redo the fender.......... @###@ kids are a PITA !!!!
Dan in Pasadena 12-31-2008, 11:19 AM I agree on the PDR guys but not all are good. Call your local Enterprise Car Rentals and ask who they use. My son used to work for them and they do thisd so routinely they find good guys. Also, i have seen guysthat will airbrush a minor scratch when you don't want to haveto pay for a full panel respray but it is too scratched to leave alone. Best of luck.
I had a nice old Porsche once that was keyed. The villiage idiots get revved up when they see someone's car that is obviously well cared for. They are SO pitiful that they think it (somehow?) reflects on them and what they DON'T have. Asshats!
Black Reaper 08 01-01-2009, 08:46 PM Well said dan and thank you guys for the replies i came to the conclusion that iam jus goin to get touch up paint and leave the dent since it isnt that noticable iam only 17 and i dont have great fundings lol maybe down the road i will redo the fender that jus means i got about 20 cars to wash and 20 lawns to mow b4 i have enough money lol its jus life those kids will get theres bcuz they do it quite often jus wait till they get caught......
JIMMMY 01-01-2009, 09:01 PM How many car washes and lawns to make the monthly payment?
Murphy's law says that will be your only ding. A bucket flew up on the freeway and dinged my '98 rig's fender when it was new - left the ding also -- never had another thing happen in 10 years - Traded in and the dealer commented on it's excellent condition.
;)
Black Reaper 08 01-02-2009, 09:55 PM Ever since i was little i have loved big diesel trucks and my dad promised to buy me a brand new one as long as i received a scholarship for college last year i fullfilled the requirments of getting the scholarship so he bought me a truck for christmas now i work with him to help pay the payments and show my appreciation, on my free time i wash cars and mow lawns for truck parts but its jus so discouraging that sum1 messes up perfect for you after i have workd very hard for it by throwin rocks 2 have fun???? what low life losers!!!
Rosey 01-02-2009, 10:02 PM Sounds like you're a hard worker and will be successful. Don't get discouraged. When you get some money saved up, you'll be able to get the dent fixed later on.
